Subwoofer: adjusting volume through WiiM app vs through the subwoofer

I have a subwoofer connected through the WiiM Ultra, and I usually adjust the sub volume on the subwoofer itself (it's set at one third in the volume knob) and leave the Ultra sub output level to zero.
Are there any recommendations against doing that, instead of adjusting the sub volume in the WiiM Ultra?

I generally keep my subwoofer knob around 9-12 o'clock so no more than half way. Rest of level adjustment through WiiM

No, it is more of a convenience thing. Your approach is perfectly fine.

Actually, it is preferred not to go above 0 in WHA to avoid clipping the sub out when playback volume is set to max.

Setting the sub volume in WHA to any value at or below zero is fine, and even above 0 is fine if playback volume is reduced accordingly.
