T10: Big difference in volume between Bluetooth and Airplay 1.

Got my T10 recently and have been quite happily using it via Bluetooth from my Mac laptop. Thought I'd give Airplay a try and nearly blew out the office at the 30% volume setting in the macOS Apple Music.app. I was basically at the lowest volume setting in the Music app before it turns off....this seems to correlate to about 3-4 in the WiiM app.

I did manage to get a bit more headroom by using the equalizer in Music and adjusting the preamp setting down to -12bB, but even still, it's quite loud in the lower 10% of the Music.app volume bar (≈7 in the WiiM iOS app). Meanwhile if I switch back to Bluetooth, I have the full volume bar to work with.

Is there a way to adjust the gain in the WiiM app? Any other ideas? Thanks.

macOS 15.4.1
Music 1.5.4.70
iOS 18.4.1
Fosi T10 firmware 4.2.8715.14
Build date 20200915

Welcome @clr,

Please note that the T10 is not a WiiM device. Even if the manufacturer might be using a Linkplay module and even if the official WiiM Home app (partly) works with this device, you won't get much help on this community forum for WiiM products.

When used with WiiM hardware there is a pre-gain setting for each input source, indeed, ranging from -10 dB to +10 dB. It can be found in the device settings, Audio Input, expand section Pre-Gain. If there's no such thing then your hardware doesn't support it. Talk to Fosi.

However, the vast difference in loudness and the fact that the volume slider has almost no usable range doesn't look right. The last time somebody reported a similar issue it turned out he had installed some app boosting the volume for certain phone "outputs" on purpose. Could that be a thing?

PS:
I might move this thread to the Off-Topic forum, because this is not about troubleshooting WiiM devices.

O hell! TIL. Thanks for pointing that out. Sorry for the interruption.
If somebody can chime in and help with a solution, there's nothing wrong with that. I'm not trying to chase you off the farm. :)
