Transmission Speed Units

The Transmission Speed is listed in the Network Status section. What are the units for the transmission speed? I guess what I'm really after is a recommended transmission speed (and while I'm at it, SNR) range. A little more detail than the Wi-Fi strength status.

RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator)
Ideal Value: -30 dBm to -50 dBm
Acceptable Range: -67 dBm or higher

Transmission Speed (Connection Rate)
Ideal Value: 150 Mbps or higher
Acceptable Range: 54 Mbps or higher

SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio)
Ideal Value: 25 dB or higher
Acceptable Range: 16 dB or higher
