Ultra or Eversolo Play?

I imagine that if you were to ask this on an eversolo forum you'd get just as biased a response as on this forum :)

As with most products, does it cater for your primary use case? The usability and streaming features you and I want are likely different.
Of course, that can change over time which is where the fun of trying something new / different comes in.

Guess if you want Apple Music native support, go for Eversolo. If you want bit perfect casting from your phone’s Amazon Music app or Alexa, go for WiiM. There may be other differences…

The Play has a amp, the Ultra does not, hence the price difference. Do you need an amp?

Ease of use is critical for me, so I would look at the UI on both the phone app and on the screen. I have never used a Play, but my impression is that the UI on the Play is more flexible and customizable than on the Ultra, but you should check that out.

Some other things to be aware of.

The Play plays DSD without converting to PCM like the Ultra does. It also supports higher PCM rates if that is of interest.

The USB input on the Play supports both storage devices and a PC. The Ultra only supports storage devices.

The Play has a feature to mirror the screen to your phone.

The lack of any headphone support (both wired & bt) is puzzling for the PLAY. I know you can sideload a settings apk to access bt tx, and add a headphone amp, but for 700 moolas, why? Not sure what the play has much over a tablet. In fact, you end up using a tablet to control a tablet.

If only the Ultra had a bigger screen 🤣
