Voice Remote and Amazon Music Unlimited

My remote works fine for volume control but has started having issues with AM Unlimited while music is playing.
When I push and hold the talk button it mutes the music for a moment but then raises the volume back to normal while I'm still talking and does not do the voice request. If it does hear my request (skip this song, for example) Alexa, through the WiiM Amp I receive a voice response that "Amazon Music can't be reached at this time".
I use the remote to initiate playback and it works fine. When I use the remote to try to change the music currently playing it tells me AM can't be reached.
The WiiM Home app works fine. The remote used to work fine too, but not for the last several weeks. New batteries, rebooted Amp, deleted and readded the remote.
Did something change or what could I have done to break it?

I'd try logging out of Amazon Music and Alexa in the WiiM Home app, then logging back in. Unpairing and re-pairing of the remote might help too.
Also, have you tried using the "talk to alexa" feature in the Alexa or Amazon Music app, or another echo, to see if voice control works ok?

See here for other things to try https://faq.wiimhome.com/en/support...1431-troubleshooting-wiim-voice-remote-issues

Try a reset of the remote - press and hold the Source Switch and Mute/Unmute buttons simultaneously for at least 2 seconds. The LED will flash to confirm all pairing history is erased, allowing you to re-pair it as a new device

If all else fails, raise a ticket to Wiim straight after the failure so they can inspect your device logs.

I'll give your suggestions a try.
I have unpaired the remote, but haven't done the reset yet.
My other Echo devices do fine with voice control and even the WiiM Amp does fine on the first request using voice, it just tells me AM can't be reached when I make further request. AM is actually playing at the time.

I logged out and back in in the WiiM Home app for AM.
Also did the reset of the remote and re-paired.
While I was in the WiiM app I also disabled the streaming serivces under the more streaming services option.

Tested it out and the voice remote now seems to be operating properly.
Not sure which option made the difference, but thanks for the suggestions.

It was working this morning, but this afternoon back to the same operation. It seems to do better if I request an artist vs telling it to use a playlist in AM.
I sent a ticket about it to WiiM

I can use any voice remote to control Amazon Music to my WiiM Ultra. My Firestick 4k and LG remotes work in addition to the WiiM remote.

That's not really surprising as they're all just interfaces to Alexa, same as you can use any echo device on your account (or indeed the Alexa and Amazon music apps "talk to Alexa" feature) to direct music to any echo/alexa-enabled device.
