We got an official statement re: Airplay and Ultra ( https://forum.wiimhome.com/threads/wiim-ultra-no-airplay.4419/ ).
Any chance of getting an official statement for Airplay support in the Amp Pro?

Like many, after reading all the rave reviews of the WiiM Amp I made the mistake (ok, my bad) of buying the Pro, thinking it was a superset/better sound version of the WiiM Amp. I'm quite pleased with sound quality (tested with FLAC and record player) but also convenience for streaming (Spotify). Still hanging on that shred of hope that WiiM is working on bringing back Airplay - or any other kind of Apple Music integration (besides BT).

Also, I will admit I am not fully sure I understand what is the actual problem (I have seen mentions of hardware limitations but also Apple making it hard for vendors, etc. Which one is the real problem here?).

Notes:
  1. Yes, I did scour this forum but only found discussions and speculations... maybe I have missed something more official. If so, thank you for clarifying.
  2. No need to comment here on audio qualities of Airplay ;) or "why not BT?". To want both enhanced sound quality for some sources (ex: FLAC files) and convenience with others (ex: Apple Music or Spotify) is not incompatible.
Thanks folks!

I don’t think WiiM have said anything “official” beyond that Ultra post and I doubt if they’d publish any of the background reasons in a public forum, so you’re probably best raising a ticket direct to them via the app feedback section and see if you get anything more informative.

Since the WiiM Amp Pro and the WiiM Ultra share the same new Linkplay streaming module (which would require certification from Apple) it's very unlikely that the situation is any different.

The only reason WiiM made an official statement on the Ultra not supporting AirPlay was the fact that early advertising said otherwise.

Thanks for the answer!

Not that important but I'm curious, what is the problem here really?
1. hardware limitations? (doesn't seem like it)
2. WiiM not wanting to invest in Apple certification?
3. Apple not certifiying new vendors? Or making it too expensive? Or super long waiting lines?

I am seeing #3 being implied but not stated

Nobody except @WiiM Team knows.

What we know for sure (naturally WiiM won't even comment on that) is that it's not a technical limitation. But that doesn't change a thing.

The WiiM Amp Pro does not natively support AirPlay. Don't expect anything else.

It's possible to use WiM devices as AirPlay speakers. I just posted a guide here.

The first response to my post shared links with a similar option and a very different one.

It’s possible to use all WiiM devices as Airplay targets apart from the Ultra and Amp Pro - even the diminutive Mini can be used in that fashion.

This is good to know! But what about the future? I already own a WiiM Pro. I am so far satisfied with WiiM. But the latest products lack Apple compatibility. Now I’m alert. I wanted to pull out my B&O Masterlink network, substitute Masterlink with CAT7 and install several WiiM Amp Pro. This is no option because of the missing AirPlay. Currently the WiiM Pro is feeding my B&O Masterlink Network with Apple Music. Now I could buy the WiiM Amp, safe some money, and hope new WiiM products will support AirPlay in the future. Otherwise I’m caught by a system that do not support my primary requirements (AirPlay). This uncertainty about the WiiM future stop me now buying there products. Is that comprehensible?
