Looking at reviews on line there is much made of the sound character of traditional integrated amps e.g. warm, or forward.
Can I ask please for those with experience of both does the Wiim Amp Pro have any effect on the output sound or is it neutral. Alternatively are such characteristics just described as part of the audiophile experience?

Hifi component sound characteristics I think have been greatly exaggerated, especially 'non moving part' items eg amps, DACs etc. Room characteristics however majorly influence sound, as does speaker - and I am of the opinion that amps / DACs and similar probably don't have a major sound characteristic. Certain magazines and other outlets (and maybe people on this forum) will disagree. I use a wim pro DAC and use an arcam sr250 stereo amp. I also have an arcam av390 AV amp integrated into the same speaker system. They sound pretty much the same at the levels I listen despite using completely different amplifier types. Therefore if the wiim amp has the functionality you desire just go for it.
