since the new wiim amp pro no longer supports airplay, the feature (iphone) that you can use the phone buttons on the side to turn the volume up and down is unfortunately no longer possible.

can you make it possible to adjust the volume without having to open the wiim app / spotify app and play around with the app volume slide?

p.s. and no i never use the remote control from the wiim amp - only the phone

On Android there are still no integration with the Android OS sound API, that would allow that. Has iOS something similar? Or is it also missing there?

This would be a feature request, not some trouble that can shot by the community. If I remember correctly others have asked for this before.

Yes. I raised a ticket for Android 3 months ago. The answer was:

"If we have the opportunity to implement this feature in the future, we will certainly consider it."

"if", "opportunity", "in future" and "consider". Wouldn't be too optimistic ;-)

Yes unfortunately your iOS devices will not be able to use their side volume buttons. Unless you have a WiiM device that supports AirPlay (as you previously stated) or if you have an Apple tv connected and use the Apple TV app. As usual you need an Apple device connected to your WiiM to use this feature. Not a WiiM issue.

then i will reactivate the old wiim amp and use the wiim amp pro again when this is fixed... wiim will find a solution, I'm sure of it - airplay is in high demand and must come back

The side buttons work for volume on my iphone 16, but only with the phone unlocked and Wiim app active....so not super convenient.

Given the WiiM isn't being controlled by the phone, rather the connect service is sending data direct from the account's servers to the device, apple has no way of adding it to the main OS volume (unlike say a pair of headphones).

Personally I don't think I'd want this, as I might for example take a phone call in the middle of listening, and I don't want my phone to control the hifi volume then!

Personally I just set my Wiim Amp Pro in the office to volume 42 and haven't adjusted it since.

On Android it's working fine with e.g. Spotify as long as it is started. I can be set in background and you can still use the phone volume to control the WiiM.
If you get a phone call that will take over the volume control on the phone but not on WiiM.

With WHA the app must be in front for volume control to work and it interfere with the phone volume.

yes it works also with my iphone 15..good option - start wiim home app and then it works! ok as a workaround ;-)

when i play something from spotify via my phone i can quickly switch to the wiim home app and adjust the volume with the side buttons - great
