Hello, I've seen the announcement on the Audio Pro WiiM edition speakers but they are still not available in the EU and I'm not even sure if there are any plans to launch them in the EU... On the other hand, I hear that people are successfully using the standard Audio Pros with WiiM devices. I already have WiiM mini which is streaming to my powered speakers. I want another, smaller speaker in the kitchen (the A10 would be perfect) and I want to be able to pair it with the WiiM mini. I pretty much exclusively listen to Spotify. Is this use case achievable with the standard A10? Any other options apart from buying a speaker + another WiiM mini? Thanks!

I also gave up on waiting and got a c10 a while ago. I also use several audio pro speakers since a few years (including the a10) together with wiim and it works just fine for the most part. I also use mainly spotify and most of the time with a group of 6 devices.

There are some limitations, though. You can group them and they will be in perfect sync, but the wiim has to be the master. Most of the time it also works with audio pro as master, but not always like the other way around. The audio pro app is also not really comparable to the wiim app (it's a pain to use it), but luckily you can access almost all settings also via the wiim app. For some reason all new audio pro models do not allow control via api and also do not have a lan port like almost all old models do. Personally for me the mk2 also sound a bit too harsh/bright, so the new models are not necessarily the better choice.

There are a few other options, basically pretty much all speakers from the last few years with a linkplay chip. Edifier also has a few options, the ms50a often is on sale for ~100$ for example

So you can use the Wiim app on the non Wiim version?
How do you use the EQ ?
Do you select this within the audio pro app?

Yes, they show up in the wiim app just like the other wiim devices as they work on the same linkplay technology. You can group them, change volume and so on. But the features are extremely limited, all the cool stuff like EQ, persistent groups, room correction and so on is exclusive to WIIM. I have no idea why audio pro misses out on the opportunity to improve the app and software as it basically looks and functions exactly the same since I installed it a few years ago. It even still has the same bugs since several years now which speaks for itself I guess haha. You can adjust bass and treble in the audio pro app, though.

Here's a few screenshots how it looks in the wiim app:

I agree I don't see why they don't understand how important this features are for their customers.
But there are only 2 speakers with the Wiim functionality.
Support is all coming from Wiim.
If you choose an Wiim edition an the Amazon web page I assume it's only shown in the wiim Amazon store.
I wish they could work together more on this matter.
But ok I'll just have to accept the Wiim version most likely won't be available in Europe.
There are no plans for it..
I will buy the regular version then with the limitations of the software unfortunately.
If the price is good I'll will make a decision..

I guess vanilla audio pro speakers don’t have this functionality because they’re probably not willing to pay Linkplay/ WiiM for the firmware and ongoing support.

Edit: plus WiiM need to weigh up whether they want Audio Pro as a potential competitor taking sales away from WiiM streamers. As usual, it’ll come down to licensing costs, marketing etc.

Thanks

Thanks a bunch. I think this is good enough for me, i.e., as long as I can see it in the WiiM app, group it with other devices and have Spotify playing to the group I should be fine. Shame they are so vague on the EU release though!
