WiiM Home app and Favorite Streaming Services.

I apologize in advance for deleting my original post. At the exact moment I did that I saw an incoming email with an answer to my question, however I’m not sure my post was accurate and may have been confusing so I’m reposting.

My question is that each time I launch the WiiM Home app it necessitates my having to choose my favorite streaming services Tidal and Quboz to get them in the blue/purple. See image two please.

In my original post I stated that I had to choose them again each time to use those services. I don’t think that’s true but what I see is that the services are grayed out as seen in the first image each time I relaunch the app. See image one please.

Is there some way to keep them chosen so that the favorites are in the blue/purple with each relaunch?

Thanks again,

John

Hi John,

Thanks for clarifying, and no worries about reposting.

Just to make sure I understand what you’re seeing: TIDAL and Qobuz are still available and usable after relaunching the WiiM Home app, but the service icons return to the gray/unselected state instead of staying highlighted in blue/purple as favorites.

If that’s correct, this sounds less like the services are being removed and more like the app may not be retaining the visual “favorite service” selection state between launches.

A couple of quick things worth checking:
  1. Make sure you’re on the latest WiiM Home app version.
  2. Try fully closing and reopening the app after selecting the services.
  3. If the issue persists, please submit feedback through the WiiM Home app so the team can review the app logs.
In the WiiM Home app, go to:

Profile / Settings > Feedback

Please include a short note like:

Favorite streaming services do not stay visually selected after relaunching the WiiM Home app. TIDAL and Qobuz return to gray icons each time the app is opened.
That should help the team determine whether this is expected UI behavior or something that needs to be fixed in the app.

Thanks for catching it and explaining the difference between “can’t use the service” and “favorite state not staying selected.” That distinction is helpful.

@JohnB
As far as I know, even if you set the streaming icon to active (purple) on the Favorites screen, everything gets reset when you restart the WiiM app. The app can't remember this setting.

Therefore, the best workaround at this time is to keep the app running in the background at all times.

It looks like you have an iPhone—is it possible to keep the WiiM app running in the background without closing it?

On Android, you can do this by turning off battery optimization and locking the app.

LIke @Wiimer, I think it's always been that way.
The screen defaults to showing you presets and recently played at the top, with the service specific stuff below those two sections if you scroll down.
Clicking on a grey service makes it blue, which removes the preset and recently played sections, but then filters on just that service, meaning you need to click all (both) of them to get what you want.
