WiiM Mini changes access points by itself

Has anyone had this problem? I installed a wi-fi extender to use with a new camera security system, not with my streaming network. It is in a room near one of my Minis. I was curious so I used its access point with the Mini and it was very strong. But after a few hours it knocked the Mini off the network and I had to reinstall it. So I went back to the previous access point; but after a few hours the Mini decided it would change back to the extender's access point and sure enough, a while after that it got knocked off again. Every time I try and go to the extender's access point it works for awhile and then fails, so I don't want the Mini to change access points on its own. Does anyone have any thoughts as to why that happens and how to stop it?

Wifi extenders are almost always trouble, I will leave the specifics be for now. A multi point wifi setup that works great is a mesh system from for instance D-link. The wifi client (phone, wiim or whatever) sees only one network and all "roaming" tasks are done by the mesh system and transparent to them.

I've not got a solution for the OP either, but why does the wiim app say this then?

Don't know why the Wiim app has that choice of wording in it...In a mesh network there are no separate access points to choose from, that's the whole point and beauty of the way it works. All physical parts of a mesh network are one.

Wouldn't be the first time wiim's wording has been "unusual" ;)
Not got a mesh myself, just a couple of access points that do show up in this menu option.
I have seen my wireless wiims switch between them at times, but it's never caused me any issues / need to specifically do anything about it.

Thanks for all the feedback. The extender is doing its job for the security cameras and I found a way around the WiiM Mini problem. Going into the extender's advanced settings, I found that there is one to selectively block devices from using its access point. So now the Mini is no longer recognizing the extender's access point and therefore won't connect to it (even though it does still show on the list of access points). The problem is technically still there, but sometimes if you treat the symptoms instead of the disease it is good enough.

I have 3 other WiiM devices but they are much further from the extender, and apparently the signal is too week to muscle its way in.
