WiiM Pro Plus accepting DSD256 via optical input

I have found contradictory info about WiiM Pro Plus processing DSD but I have a WPP receiving native DSD256 via optical input from Shanling ET3 playing and converting CD audio data. The sound quality through a Bryston integrated connected to Dynaudio loudspeakers seems better, more refined, than the same CD data from the ET3 upsampled to PCM192 and sent to WPP. How does WPP accept DSD256, is it a recent development that has not been widely promoted?

For now, the WiiM Pro Plus converts DSD up till DSD512 content into PCM data for volume control, EQ and playback.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I know that DSD256 is ok, I shall check with DSD512.
