WiiM pro plus problem with connection to wifi

Hello,
Since yesterday I have a problem with my Wiim pro plus. I can't connect to the wifi network in any way. I have tried all the options I could find on the internet.
The other smart home devices work without problems. I even tried using an old access point and could not connect either.
Resetting the device to factory settings(holding the button for 10seconds) also did not solve the problem.
I tried for two hours today and managed to connect to the network only once - unfortunately, after about 2 minutes, the device in the app got the offline status and since then it has not been able to add it again.
Maybe someone had a similar problem and knows the solution to this problem. Maybe the device is broken?

Welcome.

What does the status light on the pro do / show?

Standard questions I'm afraid...
Did you unplug the pro (from power) for a minute or two?
Did you reboot the router?
Did you reboot the phone / tablet?
Did you uninstall / reinstall the wiim app?
Does the pro work on ethernet?

Maybe try that last one (ethernet) first - if you do manage to get it connected this way you should be able to use the app (... More menu along the bottom) to send feedback and device logs to wiim.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
Did you unplug the pro (from power) for a minute or two? Yes, it was test unplugged even for a few hours, I also reset it to factory settings, none of these operations worked.
Did you reboot the router? Yes, I restarted the network, I also tried on another access point - also without effect.
Did you reboot the phone / tablet?
Did you uninstall / reinstall the wiim app? After restoring the Wiim to factory settings, I tried to reconfigure it on several devices. Neither on ios nor on android was successful.
Does the pro work on ethernet? When connected by wire, the network connection works. I connected it directly to the switch in the network closet. The problem is that in the place where the wiim is placed I do not have a rj45 socket installed so such an option completely falls out in my case.

One thing I noticed is when configuring the available networks do not appear. The only option is other network and then entering ssid and password.
As I wrote earlier once every few hours the device will connect to the network so I was able to send a notification. Unfortunately it does not last long - After a maximum of 5 minutes, the device disconnects from the network and does not allow me to reconnect. I am waiting for a response from Wiim support but I wanted to describe my problem here, maybe someone had a similar problem and can help me solve the problem faster.

Did you try to connect via WiFi close to the router ? I had a similar problem with a camera and the problem was an unplugged electric device near the router causing interference.

Yes, I tried connecting it in a different place and close to the access point. That didn't work either. I'm afraid it's a hardware problem.

BarRos, I'm following this thread closely since I'm having similar problems with mine. I can connect but continue to get annoying drop-outs both through wi-fi and ethernet connections ?

here's to hoping we both can get a resolution......

This may not be related to that issue, but you can also try turning off DNS and IPv6 on the network status screen of the WiiM app.

If the problems do not appear only for me, it is possible that the problem lies with the software. At the moment, however, I am thinking about filing a complaint in the store where I bought it. Unfortunately, I haven't received any response from support yet (which may indicate a lot of problems) but I haven't been able to use this device for 3 days.

@mikado463 in the beginning I also had similar symptoms, i.e. rare connection breaking, but after a minute at most everything was back to normal. Since Monday Wiim unfortunately has not connected to my network for more than two minutes.

@Wiimer on my Unifi network all devices have an address assigned to their mac. I had IPv6 unchecked in the wiim home app, but now that the device can't connect to the network I can't even access those settings.
This is a huge mistake of the Wiim app/device, that without a network the device cannot be used - I could use bluetooth but unfortunately I can't do that - the device is not visible. In the list of bluetooth devices I can only see the remote control.

After resetting, please try the formal setup procedure again. However, switch on the location services and Bluetooth on your phone before (besides WiFi).

If it were a software issue then I think many more would have the issue.

Do you have a way to try another router, maybe a hotspot on a phone (see WiiM FAQ on how to do that). In that way you can rule out a configuration issue in your router.

@Zap Rekowski of course I've already tried to do that - when configuring the device appears(I assume it is detected by bluetooth). The problem comes up when configuring the wireless network. Then 90% of the time I get a message that failed to connect, another option that very rarely happened is “succeeded to connect” but when checking for updates the device disappears and the adding process starts from the beginning.

@hgo58 Yes, I already tried on another access point. Also, I tested the hotspot on the device - both from the one from which I ran the configuration and a separate phone.

OK. Sometimes things are inexplicable. I would try the following in the next step.

-Deactivate 5 GHz WLAN in the router on a trial basis (try setting up only in the 2.4 GHz network)
I don't have any neighbors, if you do, it can cause interference. If successful, you can reactivate the 5GHz WLAN and set a different channel if necessary

-Change the WLAN password on a trial basis. Sometimes special characters cause problems

@hgo58 I tried your solution I was able to connect to this network but it disappears. First I connected to the wiim network, then I had to select the home network. Even before I had time to enter the password for my network the “Searching for your device” window appeared.
This confirms to me that the problem may be the device.

@Zap Rekowski I have the ability to create multiple wifi networks. I tried creating a 2.4GHz only network and a 5GHz only network but that didn't help either. I also checked with the password a while ago - I created a simple one(only letters and numbers) but that didn't work either.

Yes sounds like a faulty device indeed.

Like if the antenna is blocked or not properly connected.

@Zap Rekowski
I have one access point per floor - they work in mesh, you probably meant that the phone is connected to one AP and Wiim wants to connect to another. The devices I have stationary are assigned to the access point(screen shot of this option below). The other thing is that this problem would not be there with my attempts with another access point or hotspot running on the phone.

Thank you all for your help,
I will take the warranty in that case and it remains for me to wait for a repair or replacement with a working unit.
