Hey Everyone,

My WiiM Ultra quit working tonight. It is now lagging really bad when I send music (Tidal) from my phone to the device.bIt will play music for a couple of seconds, but then starts spinning for 10-20 seconds, then playing for several seconds, etc.

The Ultra is connected via Ethernet.

Music plays fine on my phone, but lags when I send the signal to the Ultra, so I don't think it is a Tidal issue.

I don't think it is an internet issue, but I reset the modem and router just in case.

I also restarted the Ultra.

I haven't changed any other settings and everything was working perfectly until today.

Hi

If the issue occurs only with Tidal, it may be the same issue discussed here. Does the same issue occur with other music services such as TuneIn?

Thanks!

You're correct that it appears to be an issue with the Tidal to WiiM interface. Spotify works.

The weird thing is that Tidal music plays fine on my phone, with no lags. The problems start when I send the signal to WiiM.

Also, this all worked perfectly, even last night.

Thanks!

I'm not entirely sure, but there may be an issue with the API Tidal provides for streamers. (This is why I suspect streamers other than WiiM may be experiencing the same problem.)

I recommend submitting a ticket via the feedback section in the WiiM app.
(WiiM home > More > Feedback)

Your device logs will be sent, which will help resolve the issue.

Thanks again! The link you sent was also helpful, at least in a misery loves company way.

Yes, I'll submit to WiiM and also Tidal. I switched from Spotify Premium to Tidal a couple of months ago for...reasons. I've been pleased with the sound quality, but there have been a few buggy issues like this.

I really don't want to switch back to Spotify, but we'll see. Frustrating.

I wonder if it's at least partly a geographical issue.
I almost exclusively use Tidal and apart from the very occasional stutter it's fine here in Oz for me.

.... when I send music (Tidal) from my phone to the device...
You should use your smartphone as a remote control (Connect). Alternatively, you can try using Tidal via the WiiM Home app.

I've been listening to high-resolution audio via Ultra for hours without any problems. If necessary, you can search the internet for a fault map and see if Tidal is causing problems in your region.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that is what I'm doing and I didn't explain it well. The WiiM is connected via Ethernet and I'm using the "send to" function in my phone to let it play from the device. I'm not streaming to it directly via Bluetooth or WiFi, if I'm understanding correctly.

Other streaming services are working fine, so this one is on Tidal, to the best I can tell.

Thanks for the reply.

I got this same issue with Tidal literally today. I sent a ticket but it seems to work fine just now. It is also good working fine for you now?
