Please review the WiiM Ultra update release notes below. If you encounter any issues, feel free to reach out to us. This firmware update is being rolled out in stages, with devices updating sequentially over the next few days.

5.2.704665 (In Progress)

Release date:

1 / 15 / 2025

Bug Fixes:
  1. Screen Display Enhancements: Improved the reliability of album cover display.
  2. USB Out Fix: Fixed an issue preventing standby mode and resolved a no-sound issue with certain DACs when using USB Out.
  3. Google Cast Enhancements: Fixed an occasional issue that prevented bit-perfect playback on Google Cast Audio when using USB out.

This is first time when cast 2.0 / cast lite on my Ultra looks promising to me.

Is it working like the old chromecast from other wiim as advertised? It has received many updates before and wasn’t on par like the older chromecast.

I'm glad to see updates addressing USB out issues and Google Cast. Has anyone tested the album cover display reliability after the update? Curious if it resolves the inconsistent display I noticed earlier.

Getting electronic sounding glitches with the music when casting now (latest firmware). Jesus, how hard can it be!
Ticket raised.

This new update nuked my entire setup. All presets gone. Subscriptions gone. Won't save new setup. Is there a roll back ?

Mine seems ok so far but what concerns me is that this updated automatically
Can we have a toggle switch for automatic or manual updates
Nervous as I am an ex Sonos user

There isn’t a manual rollback, you’d need to contact WiiM via the more/feedback section in the app so they can inspect your logs. Sounds like it’s done a factory reset which is pretty unusual - my devices (all different) have never done anything of that nature in the few years I’ve had them. I know that’s no consolation for you at this moment in time, but it is very rare.

I’d submit a ticket then do a power off, wait half a minute and turn it back on and see if it behaves itself again.

Confirmed, especially at the beginning.
No glitches on spdif outputs, they appear on usb.
Still unstable at higher sample rates.

Anyone else lose the ability to adjust volume from their iphones after this update? My volume control is locked, WiiM app, Spotify app, Pandora app... totally unable to control the volume from my phone. I have to physically go to the receiver and turn the knob.

The USB fix did not work. My Ultra is either still sending power or some sort of audio signal. Whatever it is, my DAC never shuts off.

When I power my Ultra off, the DAC continues to say it's receiving a signal at whatever sample rate it was last playing. However, as soon as I unplug the Ultra's USB cable, the DAC stops showing a sample rate and after a minute or two it shuts off automatically.
