I'm actively trying to figure this out but I'll post here also so sorry...

I'm almost complete with my multiroom setup consisting of a WiiM Pro Plus with a pair of Audioengine HD3's & a Cambridge Minx X201 sub, three Audio Pro A10's (2 WiiM edition), one C5A and one C10 (WiiM edition). I also have a JBL Authentics 300 that seems to be compatible with Spotify Connect, Alexa, Google & Airplay. I guess I incorrectly assumed it would show up in the Spotify connect list and I could add it to my group from there....

So what am I missing? Can I shoehorn this speaker into my WiiM speaker group somehow or does it have to be physically connected to a WiiM device?

(in another post I stated I was getting rid of both of my regular, non WiiM a10's but I decided to keep one)

So, what's currently missing is just the ability to add the Authentics 300 to a group you can stream to from Spotify?

To the best of my knowledge Spotify doesn't provide any means of grouping devices. You can either stream to a WiiM group (defined in the WiiM Home app), which already appears in Spotify like one device. Or you can stream to a Googlecast group (defined in Google Home).

Since the Authentics 300 cannot be part of a WiiM group (I suppose) but does support Googlecast, you would have to set up a Googlecast group containing all your devices in Google Home and use Chromecast instead of Spotify Connect for streaming from Spotify.

The JBL has nothing to do with WiiM/Linkplay AFAIK so why would it show up in WiiM and be grouped etc.

Can you add a WiiM mini to the JBL?

Lol, I'm literally trying this right now but of course its not going smooth...

Agreed.

So you’re in effect streaming to the main device which just so happens to be in a Linkplay/WiiM group that Spotify is unaware.
Or you can stream to a Googlecast group (defined in Google Home).

Or you can also stream to an Alexa MRM group from Spotify

I think the issue here is trying to construct a venn diagram of the different grouping mechanisms each device can support, but in the case of the devices quoted I don’t see that Venn diagram overlapping for all devices to find one sweet spot.

Agreed.

Can use AirPlay for group playback on all devices?

Well, for whatever reason Google will not setup on this JBL speaker.... Alexa setup with no issues but the Google app just wont find the speaker.... Of all tech I play with Google always continues to suck.

Well I finally got Google Home to connect to the speaker but there seems to be no method of getting everyone in the same group so that's disappointing.... I thought I had read somewhere that this would work but I must have misunderstood.

I guess I screwed up and should have went with an A15 portable.

I didn't expect it to show up in WiiM group but I mistakenly assumed I was able to group them all together by Spotify or Google cast. Honestly this shit gets confusing and I'm starting to miss Sonos, lol.
