I think the Sonos approach was to devise a plug'n'play system (which Wiim have copied to a certain degree).
I believe anybody is able to develop a Sonos service which once approved by Sonos will be made available as a service.
It's hard to deny that Sonos is the most comprehensive system...
Here's the streaming services for Sonos:

The app interface is another matter - I personally dislike its design & ergonomics.
Your opinion only. The most comprehensive streaming software is Sonos - sadly their interface apps are mostly rubbish, but if you want podcasts, music services, BBC Sounds & numerous other services then Sonos beats all the others.
If Wiim included LMS as a server, technical support would be obliged to deal with users' problems. It could turn into a support nightmare 😱😁.
It must be a reference to squeezelite, not the server.
A film which deals with the consequences of the failure of the doctrine of mutual assured destruction (MAD) & the proliferation of nuclear weapons... Beats the current string of bash 'em up, teenage romantic angst nonsense being pushed out.
Most series/movies are just junk. Check out Trap on Netflix - wooden acting, predictable screenplay. Just awful 😜. The only interesting scene is the appearance of a huge 6-8 metre long limousine 😁
It's plastic and circuit boards, not a living being 😁. As a Sonos user, I don't feel tempted to enter into a fan-boy competition, either. It is what it is, another speaker but with a weird little display. Enjoy.
You're probably correct. On the other hand, most systems (eg. Bluesound, etc.) seem very restricted in what they offer. Sonos is 'open' in that they encourage third party services, a bit like lms plugins offer.
