The added problem is that when a firmware update appears, it seems to immediately affect my ability to stream live radio through Roon. I understand needing to let customers know that a new firmware is available but why would the message mess the usability of the devices?
The Squeezebox set the gold standard for streaming boxes. A fantastic company before Logitech took them over. I wish today's streaming companies would look to the Squeezebox as an example of how an affordable product can be implemented with a wide variety of features.
It's unfortunate. The Squeezebox had a large variety of alarm customization options that really added to the quality of the product overall. I would hope that the Wiim would see that as a value-add proposition.

I too have this issue. About once a week I wake up to my Wiim Pro disconnected. Unplugging and replugging in the power cable brings it back online. This only occurs overnight and never during the day. Would love to have this sorted out.
Have you looked in your router utility to determine how the Wiim Pro is connected? Your router app should show whether it's connected with ethernet or wifi.
If you monitor your data traffic on your router you'll notice that the data comes in waves. At the start of a song your Wiim or music streamer app may trigger a download of data. That data fills the cache on the Wiim at regular intervals and therefore if you disconnect you may still have music...
