Pro-Ject’s two new streaming devices, using Wiim OS

It seems like a really good idea, especially where one speaker might be sufficient in a room (assuming it is happy playing in mono). Of course, will need to hear how it performs, and multiroom options are limited by the obligatory lack of AirPlay.

When I read that the mini's DAC is rubbish...

Metres? That sounds more like a sewing factory than a room. 🙂

Ongoing Beta Beta Test: Google Cast with WiiM Multiroom

This would be great if it turned out to eventually be a means of allowing the Mini to be included in Google Cast, LMS and Roon networks.

WiiM Ultra with external DACs (user experiences)

Can I ask what difference, if any, swapping out your expensive streamer while keeping your impressive DAC in place has made to sound quality?

WiiM Sound and Sound Lite - my impressions and measurements

Our demo of the Sound compared to the Era300 mirrors your comments exactly. Also, for kitchen use, the Alexa microphone built in to the Sonos is an undoubted advantage.

    Your Charity Shop CD finds…

Fair enough. Live and let live. It just struck me as a particularly futile thread.

    Your Charity Shop CD finds…

Forgive me, but I am not sure how this thread is of relevance to a WiiM forum. Or learn anything from it beyond the fact that some charity shops sell CDs.

Using a WiiM Mini or WiiM Ultra over optical into a Vibelink Amp

I said here a long time ago that I feel this is one of the fundamental questions related to modern hifi, but one which much of the hifi press seem to go to great lengths to try and avoid answering. Namely, purely from a sound quality perspective, is there any advantage to having a DAC fed by a...

Audio Pro C20 W vs. WiiM Sound vs. Sonos Era 300 for kitchen

I am still deciding which of these to place in a largish kitchen. I have a WiiM Pro Plus based main system and spare Amazon Echo and WiiM Mini. My requirements are: 1. The speaker needs to be Alexa voice controllable (being a kitchen, after all) 2. It needs to be able to occasionally be...

    Squeezelite Lyrion “in a box”

I know you have the caveat in your last sentence, but I do find it difficult to believe there has been such a reduction in LMS usage over the space of just a year. It makes me wonder if there has been an issue with the analytics plugin for new installations at some point. Regarding the OP’s...

Upgraded from WiiM mini to Pro and now Ultra. Optical out now turns off. This is an upgrade?

Can I ask if your Chord DAC is a Mojo 2? It is designed to switch off after a few minutes of optical signal inactivity and therefore does so on a regular basis with me, even when I am using my Mini or Pro Plus. From my experience, you are lucky this does not happen with two out of your three...

Happy with the sound quality of WIIM Sound

I am considering a smart speaker for our kitchen and am torn between finding out more about the Sound or plumping for a Sonos Era 300 which, with its current 25% discount, is now comparable in price and I know sounds really good. As I see it, the Era has at least 2 advantages compared to the...

Happy with the sound quality of WIIM Sound

I am curious that several weeks after the launch there are not too many other reviews of the Sound’s, well, sound. Here or elsewhere online. Does anyone else have any opinion about the speaker’s sound quality, either on its own or in comparison to other alternatives like the HomePod or Sonos...

WiiM Black Friday Week deals 2025 Starting Soon!

In the picture I think I can see a WiiM Amp Ultra and (even) a WiiM Sound. Recently, these sort of WiiM promotions have excluded the newest models, so it will be interesting to see if these components are included in this sale.

    The Wonderful World of Lyrion

Yes, it does indeed, which I presume is its main use. It means it can then be used to, say, stream LMS to your wireless headphones or through a DAC, needing no other device, such as a WiiM.
