I would agree with these sentiments. In addition, the Mojo2 has lossless DSP tone controls which can be used should you not wish to use WiiM’s own room correction. In fact, I have used the curves suggested by WiiM RC to help inform my Mojo2 tone control settings.
And for the well heeled amongst us, I didn’t see Linn on the list either, which is surprising given their tradition of being at the vanguard of streaming developments.
I was rather hoping the lock screen controls would appear in music streamed from LMS to my WiiM Mini but alas no. Interestingly, if the same file is played through the WiiM App ‘Home Music Share’ via the LMS UPnP/DLNA Media Interface plugin then it does appear.
If an analogy is made with pharmaceutical clinical trials then I would suggest that each listener should never have been exposed to either piece of equipment previously and (something I have not seen mentioned here) that it be a crossover trial i.e. rather than just A/B, half the subjects are...
Thank you, yes, Lyrion. And also thanks for your suggestion: I was not aware it existed. Will give it a spin.
Dear WiiM team. I was surprised there were not more options to automatically suggest playlists from a personal library. It is difficult to know how much unmet demand there is for this...
There are a number of apps which can automatically suggest playlists from streaming services using specific criteria or even AI e.g. ‘Suggest a playlist for a dinner party using well known tunes’. However, I cannot find anything which serves a similar purpose for an existing personal (ripped)...
I have had exactly the same issue with WiiM Mini (upnpbridge) after it finishes playing Amazon Music: if there is anything on an LMS playlist within PiCorePlayer then that starts playing, no matter how long ago it last played. To my shame, I have not spent any time trying to troubleshoot it...
I know it is ridiculously easy to criticise Sonos at the moment but I have always been pleasantly surprised by how good the lowly Beam sounds when playing music, either through its internal streamer or via LMS. Not as good as a bespoke WiiM/separates setup, of course, but still perfectly acceptable.
Another option (especially for iPhone users with limited storage) is to upload your rips to the cloud and then use apps like the venerable Cloudbeats to stream or download in full quality to your phone as and when you wish. You can also AirPlay/Bluetooth tracks from there to any other supported...
A Chord Mojo 2 is relatively affordable and is so good it will never be the weakest link in your audio chain unless you spend ludicrous amounts of money. I agree that other components are likely to have a larger effect on the sound but from a ‘front end first’ philosophy it means you can...
I would prefer not to name them directly as I have no idea of their circumstances other than their contribution to different LMS forums has fallen markedly in the last 6 months. My only point is that loss of such precious individuals could have a major impact on the project going forward.
Of...
I really like my Raspberry Pi LMS setup and use it in conjunction with a WiiM device most days. If I have any reservation about LMS, it is that its open source nature, which is an advantage in so many ways, also means it’s dependent on a small number of enthusiastic and altruistic individuals to...
