hooked up to active speakers i get hum from the mini in standby mode, when i connect to spotify it goes away (atleast most of it). i assumed it was normal given speakers at 0db and possibly somewhat higher gain. is it just me?
using an apple 1A slim charger
it does say 5 and 9V like this photo i found online, and when i hook it up to non-samsung brand (xiaomi) a different charge icon appears (even though its 5V capacity is smaller than xiaomi`s own 5V chargers). but the connection type still decides the correct voltage?
Hello, several of my phone chargers are dual voltage 5V and 9V (so-called fast charging)
What happens if it decides to output 9V into the mini, or will the load lock it to 5V? i assume its not an issue, but better safe than sorry.
"I use wired ethernet wherever possible and I am quite happy to explain why it is significantly better than wireless even now"
oh yeah? even an old N router easily handles everything these products do. latency? forget it, not with a streamer. wireless conflict with other routers in the area...
nobody uses wired ethernet, wifi routers were good enough to stream music almost 20 years ago!
wiim`s product lines makes little sense to me. they now have 3 products called "pro" "pro plus" and "ultra" where none of them offer balanced ouputs and only 2V. there is nothing pro or ultra about...
because most audiophile transports are scams? they claim to be more precise etc but are no better than a cheap dvd/bluray. even if they had better signal its not a problem connected to a simple modern dac.
pro-ject earlier even claimed most cdplayers cant read more than 10bits...
sure, but at 15:37 he says it doesnt happen with the other amplifier he has at hand.
its cheap, but it still shows the difference between a simple and a good amp. so why is this not a test criteria for any amps on ASR? impulse response is also missing from all dacs.
iv seen lots of problems with various hypex amps. a buddy purchased one of the top models, after a unusual load the entire output stage burned itself to death. the icepower on other hand sensed a problem and turned itself off and worked 100% after powering up again.
also notice how small their...
i havent seen evidence of what he says about lower samplingrates causing distortion in the high-freq, brickwall filters causing unnatural sound etc. i guess the closest measurement would be a bad impulse respons causing ringing, which in some cases may be true.
to me he speaks the same nonsense as most audiophiles online.
ask them to provide any evidence to support what they claim. measurements and also blindtest studies (if for some reason they dont believe in measurements).
im pretty sure the result will be zero.
the compact disc spec covered everything a human needs to hear already in 1982. there is nothing of value whatsoever in digital connections, even cheap but properly designed modern dac`s are very immune to what comes in.
just because something feels better to you does not mean the signal is...
i think few would use it that way. wouldnt for most people a desk be a computer desk? where they already have the full streaming software availible on a 24-27" screen in front of you.
a volume knob could be useful in that situation though.
