12 volt trigger out

Hi everybody,

Just bought a wiim pro plus, and came to this forum seeing everybody had 12 trigger issues. Is it still necessary to use a solution like ton van zandbergen has made? Or did Wiim fix this issue?
Hi Voja,

It seems that the WiiM Ultra doesn’t have this trigger issue. But for the PRO and PRO+ you still need (my) solution in order to drive a relay.

I guess it all depends on your amp itself. My WiiM Pro and WiiM Ultra trigger my Rotel RB-06 just fine.

I was thinking myself how to switch my monitors and came across the idea of using Shelly smart relay (like Shelly 1 Gen3) and its addon. The trigger signal could activate the digital input (my guess) and activate the relay. Further, the shelly can activate any kind of action with a http request (or mqtt or whatever) when the trigger signal changes. https://kb.shelly.cloud/knowledge-base/shelly-plus-add-on I’m probably gonna try this next week…

My Pro+ works with the Audiophonics 12V slave just fine out of the box.
Hi Mehturt, it could be that they have fixed the problem. Do you have a very recent Pro+ ?

I've seen users with Pro & Pro+ having trouble driving the VOCOMO as well as the Audiophonics version.

I'm currious...

@Ton Zandbergen
actually my Pro+ is over 1 year old, I ordered it from Audiophonics together with the 12V slave and power amp. It was working fine for me since day 1.

EDIT: by "working fine" I mean
* Wiim start playback turns on the amp
* Wiim pause/idle turns off the amp after configured period
* Wiim remote on/off turns the amp on or off

Why I started to investigate this issue is that I purchased a Fosi ZD3 to integrate my TV using HDMI, and the trigger out on Fosi does not provide enough current for the 12V slave (IIRC it's only 10mA), so I now purchased the VOCOMO (V2?) plug that should work. In case anyone is interested, I can report when I receive it.

Thanks for all the replies. I have ordered Vocomo v1 and should be receiving it this week. I am going to try to use it directly with the Wiim pro plus. hopefully that will work. I will keep you up to date.

The Wiim pro plus works perfectly with the Vocomo v1. Nothing else needed. Maybe they have updated it through the firmware updates?

I wonder if the trigger would drive one of these. I have this powering the amplifier that I use with my wiim mini, but it's triggered by an IR controlled relay so that I can control it with my Harmony remote.

Iot Relay - Enclosed High-Power Power Relay

Pretty reasonable price for what you get and I was more comfortable using it than a homebrewed relay running at mains voltage.
I don't understand why this post/solution has been ignored. I've tested this relay with the Pro+ and it works perfectly without any adapters. The input is sensitive down to 3.3V and I tested it only needs 3-4mA to turn on. Must be an opto-isolated input, or a crazy sensitive relay coil. Output is rated for 12 amps.
