Advice on optimal setup

Hello Guys,

I'm trying to sort the music in my store.

I've got an amplifier that's hardwired to the store speakers. I want to purchase a device that will allow me to remotely and even from home schedule the same playlist for certain hours eg, 8-7pm then a different playlist from 7pm to 8am. I'm interested in keeping this set up the exact same every single day. Ideally I don't want to always use my personal phone and have the music constantly play from my phone.

As a result I initally wanted to just stick a USB and play but I understand that perhaps the entry models don't do this.

Can someone who really knows their stuff best advise me for a device even if it's not from this one that i bought for home that can help me achieve what i need?

Do you have a PC running 24/7 in your store?
If so I recommend installing LMS and the music files on it and run your playlists with Squeezelite on your Wiim (not the Mini. It cannot run Squeezelite).

Hello this is very useful.

The WIIM would be connected to an ethernet cable directly to the store internet. In that case do you think if I assign the playlist with amazon music it should just perpetually flow? And if so is there any negative impact to my phone battery if it's always running in the background.

Because I saw the bluesound node has USB stick but it's more outside my price range. However since they've got an APP would that be a more permanent solution?
With WiiM, the phone acts as a remote control and does not drain the battery as Bluetooth does. (The phone does not play music. The WiiM device does the playback over the network.)

From my experience, Spotify is better than Amazon music when using presets for alarms. Maybe you can expect more stable music playback that way.

If you are using a USB stick, I think the WiiM amp is the best choice.

Hello!

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I've got two main questions.

Firstly, would the playlist still play even though I've gone home and disconnected from the local network ( Despite the Streamer still being connected to the local network)

I'm really trying to keep my costs as minimal as possible. WIIM amp is unfortunately outside my price range.

Yes, once you complete the alarm setup in the WiiM app, the WiiM device will perform all the rest of the preset playback. No need for a phone.

However, in order to control the device with the WiiM app, the phone and the device must be connected to the same network. Therefore, you cannot control the WiiM device directly from your home with phone. If you need to control the device remotely, you will need to use the WiiM API.

Overall, the method suggested by other members (LMS) may be more convenient.

Just to clarify. Does that mean if I leave the store the music stops?

Or will it continue to play it’s just that I wouldn’t be able to change it if I left?

Rest assured, it is the latter.
The music will not stop.🙂

Deleted post regarding #API.

However, if remote control is possible, it is possible to deal with music playback from your home in the unlikely event that it fails or stops due to some error.

e.g, the API to perform preset 1 playback is very simple.

Code:
https://Your device IP address/httpapi.asp?command=MCUKeyShortClick:1

Simply open this URL in your browser to perform the preset playback.
Clarification. Remote Control from home etc will only be possible if you have a VPN connection or open ports on your router which you most defintely SHOULD NOT do.

Thank you for all your help.

In this case I'll order it.

Lastly Can someone explain if I wanted to use my desktop to control it how that'd work. They're on different networks and my desktop doesn't have wifi

I thought could access the API from anywhere. Completely my lack of knowledge. I have corrected it.
Thank you very much.

So just to be absolutely clear, if I set my alarms up with one of the apps. I can have it alternate between two playlists perpetually without my manually sorting it on a daily basis?

Which will be sorted via timings?

This is an example of an alarm.
Once the 2 different alarms are set, nothing else needs to be done.

Alarm 1 (19:00-7:59, Spotify preset 1)

Alarm 2 (8:00-18:59, Spotify preset 2)

Thank you so much for taking the time to send this!

So could an alarm be a playlist that’s been downloaded that consists of multiple tracks? It’s not just one song right?
I set the Alarm 2 to the "Release Ladar" playlist from Spotify, not a single track. i.e. WiiM cannot play files downloaded to the Spotify app on the phone. You can create your own playlists in the Spotify app and add them to your presets.

An aside.

On second thought, since Spotify playback on WiiM uses Spotify connect, I think you could use the Spotify app on phone at your home to control playback.

Sorry! I’m just clarifying.

I’ll be able to play downloaded music on my phone through Spotify right? I don’t just have to find the music on Spotify?
