Are you a browser or a searcher?

Yes, you browse search results, but is your first instinct to click the search or the browse button at the bottom of WHA (or whatever controller you're using)?

Wish we could do polls, but here we are.

Over the past few days, through a variety of posts here, I've gotten the feeling that many people are browsers, which I find shocking. Alphabetical lists? All the time? I have over 1000 artists in our library. This just doesn't work for us. But, I could see it working for many.

I'm a searcher. I like to explore, to see results across multiple providers, such as live performances if we ever get YouTube Music.

Guess it depends on the mood I’m in and what I want to play - if it’s an album for example it can often just be as quick scrolling thru an alphabetical list than it is to type in the name of the album and have the WiiM home app unnecessarily search repositories I’m not going to use. If I’m looking for a particular track or tracks no matter where I might find them, I’d search.

I normally choose an Artist then an Album. Sometimes I just choose one track and let the Bliss mixer plugin in LMS generate a playlist for me. What would I search for? I mean if you search for a particular Artist or Album it is probably just as quick to choose the Artist from the alphabetical jump list then choose the album.

I am a favorites person. 😄

WHA Search (Recent Searches) don't sync across multiple phones, and Browse is too hierarchical. Also WHA does not allow ambiguous searches, which makes it difficult for me to use as English is not my first language.

So I mainly use Presets and Recently Played. (Currently with Amazon music.) I also use the Preset button on Remote frequently.

If I want to find music by artist or album, I use Spotify. For me Spotify is the most research-friendly and comfortable music app.
