I have some Kef LSXii wireless speakers and a KC62 Sub. When I play wirelessly through my iPhone there is a lot of some kind of interference that sounds awful. I found that if I have a wired source to the Lsx ii's the issue is gone. I bought the WiiM ultra to establish a wired connection. So far it solved the interference issue. I connected the WiiM to the Kef's using an optical cable. It sounds a little flat compared to using a USB connected from my MacBook Pro to the LSX ii's via USB. I need some advice on how to connect everything.

1. Should I use an optical cable or the RCA outputs from the WiiM to the Kef's? Why?
2. Should I connect the KC62 Sub to the Lsx ii's or to the Sub output on the WiiM?
3. What settings should I play with to get the best sound?

Thanks!

1 Use optical
2 Connect the sub to the speaker sub output.
Done this way you preserve the KEF system approach. You also skip a DA/AD conversion step.
3 I have no idea why optical from Ultra sounds worse to you than the connection from your computer, but the WiiM has a better EQ management than the KEF system has, so more possibilities to tailor the sound to your preferences.

I’ve the Kef Ls60 with WiiM Ultra, this is how I set them up.
WiiM Ultra to LS60 with coax out, Kef has a unity gain mode if you set the volume to 71, this means that you use the Ultra as a pre amp and and also connect the sub to the ultra. With this solution you set the volume from the Ultra and use its bass management feature.

The only reason RCA will sound so different is if their is an active EQ either on the ultra RCA input or your computers output.

One of my questions is will sound be better if I use RCA connection in order to use the DAC in the or is it better to use the optical cable and just have a digital connection?

The KEF digitalize the RCA input so it means that if you use the Ultra DAC the signal will be converted multiple times between analog and digital. The best would be to use a digital connection, optical or COAX to prevent to signal to convert between analog and digital
