Can’t rename WiiM Amps

I have a multi room setup with 3 WiiM amps. I’m using iOS iPhone or iPad but I am not using Apple Home. Everything is on latest version, the phones, the apps and the amps.

I want to rename my amps. I’m in the WiiM Home app on the devices page and press the settings icon on one of the devices.

On the next page for the devices, the first option is Rename. I was able to do one, but the option for the other two is greyed out and when I try to use it the message is Edit this name using the Home App.

Actually when I first go into the device setup the Rename option is white for a fraction of a second, then goes grey.

The one amp in my system that I can and did rename would let me do it again.

So how do I do this? I assume this means WiiM Home and not Apple Home. Anyway, I’m accessing the device from inside the WiiM Home app and none of the devices are registered in Apple Home.

I don’t have any Android devices.

Thanks

If I recall, you do need to add them to Apple Home and rename them there - some sort of airplay/apple quirk.

I have never had a problem with renaming my WiiM devices in the WiiM Home app using iOS/iPadOS.

It might be worth rebooting the other Amps, and maybe even force closing the app, and then trying again.

Screenshots of the settings and the messages you see might be helpful.

Mine varies even though I do have them all in the Apple home app - I can’t really see a pattern as to why a few can’t be renamed and are greyed out in the WiiM home app. The reason I mentioned the Apple Home app was I recall WiiM posting a long time ago that that was the route to renaming them - I don’t know if it depended on how or if they originally had been added to the home app, had actually been used as airplay targets etc etc.
Worth trying the Apple home route though I’d say…
