Grounding issue Amp Ultra with LG G4

Hello,

I've recently bought the WiiM Amp Ultra and connected it to my LG G4 (via HDMI) and Triangle Color Colonne floorstanders. The TV is also linked to an Apple TV through HDMI. All devices are plugged into the same grounded wall outlet, which I recently tested with a socket tester. Of the three devices, only the WiiM is grounded; both the TV and the Apple TV lack a ground pin and are to my best knowledge 'floating'. I don't have any coax or ethernet connected to the TV, though the Apple TV is connected via ethernet to a wall outlet.

Whenever I turn on the TV and the WiiM switches to HDMI, I get a variably loud pop through the speakers. I also notice a visible electrical arc when I hold the TV’s HDMI cable close to the WiiM. This makes me think there might be a grounding issue or a ground loop. However, there is no audible hum, which is usually described in discussions about ground loops. What I also find odd is that this never happened with my previous setup using a grounded Denon AVR.

I've already tried two other wall outlets, two other power strips and two HMDI cables with no effect.

Could this indicate a faulty unit? Or is there anything else I might try to solve this problem?

Cheers,

Larrie
