Can Wiim Ultra be used as a single DSP ?

First of all, I use ipad mini 7 and Apple Muisc for streaming Bit-Perfect Hi-Res (24/192) Lossless source.
Second, I am using indiviual USB DDC(I2S connection), DAC, standalone preamp.

Current Setting:
ipad mini 7 -(USB)-> Matrix Audio XSPDIF 3 -(I2S)-> SMSL M400 -(XLR)-> SMSL SP400 -(XLR)->Subwoofer-(XLR)->Power Amp-->Main Speakers

I will not use any analog components of wiim ultra.
Before I buying the wiim ultra,

1. I would like to know if I can use the Wiim Ultra as a single DSP (SRC, Room EQ Correct and Volume Control) for its Optical Input, and output to my external USB (DDC/DAC)?

ipad mini 7 -> usb to optical adapter -> wiim ultra(as DSP for EQ correction and volume control) -> USB DDC/DAC

2. As iPad Apple Music is streaming Bit-Perfect Hi-Res source, its digital format is varying during playback (16-24 bits/44.1-192kHz). If I use a USB to Optical adapter for the input into the wiim ultra, can the room eq and volume control be still functioning ? what format will the USB output is (follow the source/24bits 192kHz) ?
Is the Wiim Ultra's optical input able to handle varying digital formats? Any SRC (Sampling Rate Converter) design inside ?

3. In above application, can the eq/volume control be functioning ? can the volume control be bypassed ? (I am not yet decide to use the digital volume control of wiim ultra(remove my preamp to simiplfy the system), or bypass wiim ultra's volume control (keep using my preamp's volume control)

4. How is the latency(delay) for the USB output. I am wondering if I can connect an audio interface to wiim ultra's optical input for my studio setup.
how is it's latency of the USB output for live application when using the EQ and volume ?

5. Last question, what is the processing resolution of the DSP inside ?

I’d expect the bit depth and sample rate to remain unchanged whether you use room EQ or volume control or not. There is an option to fix the output resolution if you wish, but it sounds like you wouldn’t choose to.

Yes, both will function. You can choose to set fixed volume and therefore use your preamp’s volume control.

Not heard anyone discuss latency in that setup tbh, but perhaps you’ll need to directly put that question to WiiM via email or the feedback section in their app.

Again, one for WiiM to answer, although they have said they employ 32-bit processing for volume control to avoid any loss in precision when handling a 24 bit stream.

I'm curious about point 2.
For varying digital formats, there should be SRC design inside before any digital processing.
Convertion to an unified sample rate is required in order for the eq, volume control to operate.
Isn't it ?
Sorry for I am not familiar with digital signal processing

Beyond my knowledge I’m afraid, I seldom delve that deep into how something works. Again, maybe one for WiiM themselves.

Thanks for your informative reply.
I have sent a ticket to wiim official.
looking forward they will give a technical reply

Did you ever get a reply and info regarding this?
My Wiim Ultra has been arrived.

After testing, I found the bitrate of the USB out follow that of the optical input no matter the EQ/Volume Control is ON/OFF

For the latency, there is a denoise setting in the wiim ultra, which claims to add extra buffer (10ms) to eliminate click/pop for the HDMI/Optical input, I found that I have to enable this to get a stable signal for all listening time.

I always use the First Take clip to test latency briefly:

Can you observe any delay ?

I think the latency is only a little.
The digital input of wiim ultra is usable for video playback and gaming.
I will try connecting to the optical output of audio interface later. See whether it is usable for playing any musical instruments.

current setup

iPad > DDC1 to optical > wiim ultra > USB DDC2 to I2S > DAC

Interesting, I have requested RyanWithWiim to add this topic (EQ/DSP processing info) to his "Tech Tuesday" columns, perhaps we will get that in the future.

Myself I am not using HDMI, my HDMI Matrix Switch outputs SPDIF which I connect to the Wiim.
