Connect PC to WiiM for movies & games

I am thinking on pulling the trigger on a WiiM. Apart from streaming, I am looking for a device that can be paired to a desktop PC and to an amplifier+speakers setup to work as audio for videogames or movies (VLC). PC's motherboard has S/PDIF and other audio output.
If you have a similar setup, how do you connect WiiM to computer to work as audio system?

To connect your WiiM to your PC for audio, use an optical S/PDIF cable from your PC's S/PDIF output to the WiiM's input. Then, connect the WiiM to your amplifier using the appropriate cable (e.g., RCA, optical, or HDMI). In your PC’s sound settings, select the WiiM as the default audio output device. This setup will allow you to stream audio from your PC to your amplifier and speakers for games and movies.

How do you do that? The PC won’t be aware that it’s a WiiM device that is at the other end of the optical cable.

What inputs does your amp have ?
You might just be able to connect your PC to your amp without a Wiim.

How do you do that? The PC won’t be aware that it’s a WiiM device that is at the other end of the optical cable.

It will show as the PC's Sound Card - possibly one of a number of variations as there are multiple outputs.

Note.
You may have to set it to send 2 channel PCM only.

I did realise that. Was more making the point about 2 channel PCM. Unless specifically set it will send what it gets which could be 5:1
