I am struggling with connecting the wiim amp to my MacBook Pro M2
Previously, I had a marantz melody amp with passive speakers and an ethernet connection to which I could connect from my MacBook, I guess through AirPlay1.
I could do this by simply selecting another sound output at the top right side of the macOS interface,
As a result, any application would play its music over AirPlay on the Marantz
I replaced the marantz with the wiim amp and kept the passive speakers and ethernet connection
It seems not so simple with the Wiim amp
When I select it as sound output on the MacBook, I hear nothing through the speakers.
The leds on the Viim show me that the volume level seems to communicate between the MacBook and viim
The speakers are connected fine: when I pair the remote or I run the room correction I can hear sound through the speakers
So it seems that I cannot select the wiim as general sound output device on the MacBook?
Is this an AirPlay2 issue?
When I run the Spotify client on the macbook, I see that at the right bottom of this spotify client
I can connect to a device and when I select the viim the sound plays fine through the speakers
However, I can only use the volume control of the Spotify client and not the volume control of the Macbook
Why is this sound working from the Spotify client and not as MacBook general sound device?
In the Spotify client on the iPhone I can also select the Viim as sound output device
and this time the music plays fine
Seems like AirPlay works on iOS but not on macOS?
In the Apple Music app on the MacBook, I can also select at the right top side the viim as one of the output devices
(I think it is the same as selecting it through the control centre),
but again then I hear nothing through the speakers
It's a pity that it doesn't work flawlessly out of the box on the MacBook but in a rather restricted way
i read https://faq.wiimhome.com/en/support...-to-stream-audio-with-airplay-on-wiim-devices
But it doesn't seem to work on my MacBook, what is the restriction in a MacBook?
Is there anyone who understands what is going on here
and can clarify a bit more why some things work and others not?
Maybe the wiim amp was not the best choice for playing music from the MacBook over AirPlay?
