I had issues when running a HDMI arc connection from the tv the amp ultra, the volume was very low even with 10db pre gain. I could see online that this was a common problem. I played around a bit and found that with tv digital audio out, instead of using pass through I set it to Dolby Digital Plus and this improved things a lot. I am still using the pre gain but don't need to crank the volume up nearly as much

Same here, with my tv set to pcm output (which is originally all that the wiims supported)..
I'll try again with dolby.
Strangely, although all 3 amps support the same formats, the amp and amp pro support pages recommend pcm, whereas the amp ultra pages don' state a tv setting preference.
