Hi folks, hi WiiM team,

Been searching through the forums and it seems this was not requested yet. Else I do apologize for the duplicate.

What about adding the ability to entirely disable the WiiM Ultra screen such that it never turns on to display anything?
Yes I could get a Pro/Pro+ with no screen but it is not because I have a screen that I want it to display things. Sometimes I just want to disable it entirely so that my younger one does not wake it up and get unwanted "screen time" for example ;)
And when he's not around, I want to activate and be able to enjoy the screen I paid for.

Also, what about adding the ability to disable all the WiiM Ultra physical controls such that even if the same younger one starts playing with any of the controls, nothing happens. Combined with the first request: no screen, no control, no worries for the baby 😊

Let's see what you think!

Cheers!

I just don't see this being implemented. My impression is that wiim is designing for ease of use and a full lock could unnecessarily complicate things. Personally I think the screen needs more functions. It's kinda lack luster and only displays a tiny album picture when streaming directly from the device or displays a super basic decibel meter. I would like to see some visualizer choices.
Different use case, different request. I think you overlooked the fact that my request is directly linked to the fact I do have babies around at the moment and while I'm ok with them exploring with their fingers (my choice), I'm not when it comes to controlling the device via random clicks and getting screen time ouf of it.

When they're not around and I can enjoy the WiiM 100% for what it's been designed, then maybe I'd indeed like more screen features as you do.

But again, different use case. Doesn't have to be one or the other.

The WiiM is playing music even when the baby's around, not only when he's not.

I do have plenty of solutions and thanks for pointing out some of them here, but right now my preferred solution is to have that kinda "lock device" feature. No problem if burried down the app, that I can automate in 2 clicks based on time, NFC tags, whatever.. ;)
Put an upturned box over it 😂
I mean the WiiM not the baby 🙂

Not sure I understand what you mean. You can see the audio's metadata if you are streaming directly from the device and you are close enough to read it. I barely ever stream directly from the device so it's just another step to switch the screen to the less visually appealing mode to even display the data. Ironically you can't even change the screen mode from the screen, you still have to go into the phone app.

@p4z Is there any update on this? My baby is constantly swiping on the screen as the display fascinates her and is changing input sources, volume etc.
It's fine if the volume knob still works, as she will only go there as long as there is a fascinating bright and colorful screen.

You can turn the display screen off under screen settings in the app. Or put the WiiM on a higher shelf ;)

Volume aside, I love seeing children investigate and play safely with equipment - it’s how they learn :)

I tried turning it off, but it will always turn on when it is touched, right?

In days gone by. VCRs used to have a “child lock” function by pressing some secret combo on the remote. It put a key icon on the display and then neither the remote nor face buttons worked until the combination was repeated. Unplugging the vcr for long enough (usually a couple of hours) would also cancel this state, in case you forgot the combination.

Surely a “lock the wiim” switch in the app could serve a similar purpose, being disabled if power is cut to the device in case of crashes.

Not related to the thread but it was funny at the time. Our young (at the time) Grand Daughter walked up to our TV and swiped the screen and when it did not move threw a tantrum saying it was broken. Luckily no one laughed too much and she quickly got over it. It was my experience as a father of young children that if you did not want them to have access to something it needed to be out of their reach.

Hey there. Have not heard from WiiM since they replied to me that they were "considering" my request back in August 2025. Will try to ping them and let everybody here know when I get feedback.
