My use case, i will turn off the mains power every night, and only turn it on again when we want to watch TV.

So i heard Vibelink has a great hardware with a great DAC.

So i want to use my TV Optical out to Vibelink.

My only concern if i need to manually turn on Vibelink or does the VL operates the same as WAU, when i turn on the mains, WAU is powered on itself.

Even after removing the power it will remain on whichever input was active (optical in your case) when powered on again, and will auto detect the optical signal and wake up.

However, your biggest concern should be that normally tv optical output volume isn't controlled by the tv volume so in this case the vibelink's volume can only be changed by its physical volume knob.

I could be wrong, but with optical out, you are still able to control the source volume levels.
Unlike HDMI or USB Out, where the loudness controls is handed off to the player (amp)

So i am thinking to fix the VLA volume knob to 50% or 65% or even 100%. And then control the loudness from my TV source. At worst, LG Oled still allow to output both internal speakers and optical out simultaneously, i am sure with this, we can set the loudness.

On my TVs, when using optical out, as I do, the TVs Volume Control has No effect on its optical output, and it always outputs at the same fixed level.

Like @QuarryHunslet says, I use 3 tvs with optical out and they are all set to 0 tv (local speaker) volume as the optical signal is fixed, full volume.
One into a wiim pro, one into a wiim amp pro and one into, dare I say it, not a wiim!
If I turn up the tv volume then its speakers start to make a noise, but the volume from the optically connected wiims etc. does not change.

As for tv hdmi into an avr, that's where either the tv or avr remote changes the volume.
I've not got a tv with usb out 🤔

i.e. I really don't think (pretty much any) tv optical out directly into a vibelink will work as you want / expect.

Does the optical signal wake up the Vibelink from deep sleep (+60 minutes) with the latest firmware update?

Welcome.

No, optical signal alone won't wake the vibelink from deep sleep. It really needs the trigger cable connected.

what if we disable sleep or put standby like 1 hour long? I will just power on/off from the mains as intended.

this should at least let the tv connect to the VA and always out the audio?

There are no options to disable sleep, or auto standby on the Vibelink.

As per post #2, when you reconnect the power then the vibelink is awake and remains on the previous input, so that will work.
But as also discussed, volume control will be physical only.

It is a pity, I wanted to buy the Vibelink but not being able to disable deep sleep prevents me from it. I think it would be easy to implement this in firmware. Signal detection wake-up from standby at all times is basic. You wouldn't have to need an extra 12V trigger device.

I agree, Wiim people please have option to disable sleep in vibelink.

I think for it's price, it comes with a good DAC and optical, it is almost perfect for TV soundbar alternatives.
