Hey all, I'm hoping maybe we can crowdsource some information.
I recently investigated some poor quality audio in my setup (Apple TV 4K -> TV -> Wiim Amp Pro), and found my TV to be the culprit. I was able to verify that it was, at a minimum, resampling the input, and possibly performing additional processing.
The net result of this was a noticable degradation of the sound quality, and also a large reduction in the volume of the TV source. I've heard lots of people mention their TV input to their Wiim amp is very quiet, requiring significant pre-gain, and I'm wondering if in all or some of these cases the sound quality is also being degraded in a more subtle manner, as was the case for my setup.
So I'm curious if there are any TVs on the market which can faithfully passthrough audio from a source to the Wiim Amp or Wiim Amp Pro over HDMI ARC, or even optical. Now, I've seen lots of TVs which seemingly have options to do so, but I'm particularly keen to hear from anyone here who has actually personally verified this with their setup. Especially as the passthrough is commonly supported over eARC, but perhaps less so over just ARC, which the Wiim uses.
If anyone would like take part, a quick test would be to play some 44.1kHz stereo content on your source, then some 48kHz stereo content, and to verify if the appropriate sample rate shows up on the input for the Wiim.
I'll go first with my experience below
TV: Samsung UE48H6400
TV Output Mode: PCM
TV Output connection: HDMI ARC
Source: Apple TV 4K
Source Output Mode: Auto / Stereo
Wiim Product: Wiim Amp Pro
Matched Sample Rate: No
Many thanks to anyone who wishes to take part!
PS For anyone interested in the sound quality issue I had, the thread is here:
PPS For anyone looking for example sources to use, I was using the following lossless tracks from Apple Music on the Apple TV
'Old Pine' - 44.1kHz
'I Forget Where We Were' - 48kHz

Hi, I’m trying to track down the cause of some poor sound quality in my setup.
When using the Wiim Amp Pro as a streamer to play Spotify, the quality is, in my view, excellent.
However, the sound quality is not as good when feeding the Wiim Amp Pro from my TV. It seems slightly veiled by comparison.
In my setup, the source is an Apple TV, plugged into my TV via HDMI. The TV then outputs the audio to the Wiim Amp Pro via HDMI ARC.
The output levels of the two inputs initially did not match, with a measured difference of around 12dB at the same volume setting, but I was able to dial this...
