Emby as a dlna server

I think this has been asked before both on the Emby forum and here. Wiim home app shows Emby dlna server as empty most of the time. Occasionally it will show some content, and then it might even let you play something if you're lucky, but most of the time it's empty.

The problem is as far as Wiim is concerned every other dlna server (minim, asset, even plex) works so it must be emby. And emby works everywhere else (bubbleupnp, lms remote media, vlc etc) so it must be wiim. And I don't know which one it is or even how to troubleshoot it.

Is anyone able to point in my in the right direction because I would like this to work? Thanks.

I've always run Emby server with a fixed IP address served by DHCP from the router. But if it was on a laptop or something else that regulary changes IP address, it's easy to see that clients (like the WiiM devices) could have difficulty connecting if they're getting an old IP address.

The WiiM Home app uses SSDP for discovery not Emby Connect.

I'm giving Emby a try, it's free for the app and server, so that's a positive. Seems you can control music via the http? Can you then output to specific UPNP players?

Scanning in 300,000 going to take a while probably be done by tonight

I have set the default folder tag /folder method, is this the best?

You can use the app or the web app to play music any of your dlna renderers (wiims) . I tend to use the web app as you can start the music, close it and it continues playing (like lms or wha) without needing the phone to still be in use.

There is an option just for albums/songs too.

As you've already started the scan I'd see how it goes with your original selection. It'll probably be fine
