Feedback Needed: Music Sources Survey

We want to hear from you! We're running a short survey to better understand how our community listens to audio at home. If you listen to music services, podcasts, physical media, TV or anything else, come let us know. It only takes a minute or two. Your feedback genuinely helps us improve WiiM for everyone.

Thanks so much for taking the time!

RESULTS:
Thanks for the responses everyone! We hit our minimum 400 responses so here's some data for you all! First, let me preface this by saying this is data from our WiiM community members, so it's not "ALL" WiiM users, but a subset of engaged folks on our Reddit, Forum, and Facebook group. This means the data is skewed to a subset of the total WiiM audience and user.

Top Music Sources from respondents:
1. Spotify
2. TuneIn
3. TV Audio
4. Local Music
TIDAL, Qobuz, and YouTube Music all had about the same amount of votes, within a few points of each other and claim the 5th-8th.

I think Spotify is expected, as they have around 30% of the music streaming service market share. And TuneIn is pretty common as it's free and has an incredibly large range of content available.

As to regular listening, which we identify by at a minimum using a source once a week:
1. Music Services - 92%
2. Internet Radio - 66%
3. TV Audio - 62%
4. Local Music Library - 62%
5. Physical Media - 50%

The site won‘t let me answer as the first question „How many music services do you or people in your home subscribe to?“ does not offer the „0“ option. But it‘s mandatory to fill in.
Please amend this!

@RyanWithWiiM It also lacks Open Network Stream from the list of wiim home app...and it is for me one of the most used if not the most. I prefer use my own hq urls for radio!
I answered adding "Other: Open Network Stream"

please add yandex music 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏
The open door for Spotify is bad enough. So do you think a lot of people would like the idea of an integrated streaming service working in dependence of the Russian government? There might be a reason why it is not available on streamers. Not to mention the obvious restrictions outside Russia and its satellites.

These endless discussions and requests for support of this and that streaming service make me think that the cart is being put before the horse.

Instead the ball should be played into the half of the streaming providers and their apps. If they provided detection of and transmission to UPnP renderers on local networks this whole issue would be dissolved.

It would also force Sonos, Teufel, Bluesound and others to finally provide UPnP connectivity. This would be a big step ahead for local content as well. Being able to access a decent server is so much nicer (and faster) than having to rely on SMB sharing and building their own ghastly libraries.
