Feedback Needed: Music Sources Survey

We want to hear from you! We're running a short survey to better understand how our community listens to audio at home. If you listen to music services, podcasts, physical media, TV or anything else, come let us know. It only takes a minute or two. Your feedback genuinely helps us improve WiiM for everyone.

Thanks so much for taking the time!

RESULTS:
Thanks for the responses everyone! We hit our minimum 400 responses so here's some data for you all! First, let me preface this by saying this is data from our WiiM community members, so it's not "ALL" WiiM users, but a subset of engaged folks on our Reddit, Forum, and Facebook group. This means the data is skewed to a subset of the total WiiM audience and user.

Top Music Sources from respondents:
1. Spotify
2. TuneIn
3. TV Audio
4. Local Music
TIDAL, Qobuz, and YouTube Music all had about the same amount of votes, within a few points of each other and claim the 5th-8th.

I think Spotify is expected, as they have around 30% of the music streaming service market share. And TuneIn is pretty common as it's free and has an incredibly large range of content available.

As to regular listening, which we identify by at a minimum using a source once a week:
1. Music Services - 92%
2. Internet Radio - 66%
3. TV Audio - 62%
4. Local Music Library - 62%
5. Physical Media - 50%

Maybe a couple of years ago, it would have been at the top. However, once they introduced shuffle to every song, it lost its appeal.
That's Amazon Music Prime which is lossy, not Unlimited which is lossless and not "for a little more" as previously stated - it's a separate subscription from Prime and costs more than Prime itself. The only benefit for Prime customers is that you get a discount off Unlimited annual subscriptions iirc.

Amazon Music Prime is lossy though and has restrictions on its use e.g. it will only place artist stations and you can't play an album or playlist without it playing what it thinks you want to hear
That's a very polite description of basically unusable. :) Amazon broke Amazon Music Prime intentionally and didn't look back since.

I cannot imagine anybody using it (without Unlimited), in particular since Spotify Connect works with their free service on WiiM devices (it doesn't work with all vendors). The Spotify Free restrictions are less severe in my book.

I'm surprised by the popularity of TuneIn, too.

Actually I hadn't missed and did vote for it, I didn't make myself clear. What I meant was I am surprised it didn't place at all in the results, no mention there from Ryan as to where it fell in the rankings, that surprises me.

Probably because it's radio, not a service.

True it's radio but for the purposes of this survey it was treated as a service as shown in @Ronnie D 's screenshot above. The WiiM Home app has a separate Radio Paradise function or client/applet, you don't need to enter a URL in the Open Network Stream, you can launch it separate of that.

It came in 9th, right in between Amazon Music and Apple Music. I only listed a top 4 with a three way almost-tie for 5th.

This wasn't my fault!
;)

I definitely listen to Radio Paradise a lot more.than to Tidal and Spotify, both of which I pay for. Family plans, so at least some family members put these to better use.

Having said that I am a Radio Paradise supporter, of course.
