Streaming music from my Synology NAS is going well. Different kind of formats are handled all right. But the FLAC files are displayed in an ugly way. I see a text scrolling displaying number, title.flac, album, artist. A second row shows album and artist the same way as with other formats.

Ripping cd's to flac with Anyburn or Windows Player makes no difference. In Tagscanner there is nothing strange to see.

Anyone a clue?

It doesn't matter how you rip the files (as long as you're using a ripper that supports AccurateRip/CTDB) as long as Tag&Scanner is producing compliant tags.

So this only affects FLAC files, and the problem is visible throughout the WiiM Home App (WHA) i.e. track listings, Now Playing, Queue etc?

I can't imagine how it could be the WHA at fault, but to double check try browsing your server with another control point e.g. BubbleUPnP on Android or mconnect lite on iOS.

What media server are you using? MinimServer is generally recommended.

Thanks Simbun. Yes, it only effects FLAC files. I use Mediaserver on the Synology NAS, and I looked again into it. I changed the display in nr + title. Now it's much better but still different. At Now Playing all files show only the title (which is nice) but FLAC files show nr + title + .flac

If I configure Mediaserver with only title, there is no track number in Now Playing but viewing the album all track numbers are gone. So for now I keep nr + title.

I am not really a techno phobe and I use a Synology NAS to run my music stream. I just select the music from the folder list and all the files are flac which display correctly in the app. I use Synology Audio Station to manage playlists and have zero issues.

The WHA displays TrackNumber + Title in album listings and only Title on the Now Playing screen (first line), so, assuming your FLAC files aren't to blame, this sounds like a Media Server issue to me, though I don't have a Synology to test with.

The screenshot you posted in the other thread showing "1411 kbps" suggests the media server is decompressing the FLAC before sending it to the WiiM. Maybe there is an option in Mediaserver to convert certain file types rather than passing them directly to the player?

I expect that's why only the FLAC files display like that. I'm fairly sure the "Now Playing" screen gets the metadata from the file so I guess that is what Mediaserver is sending in the transcoded file. What happens if you turn off transcoding for FLAC?

Thank you! So glad now.

I had tried disabling transcoding altogether, but only disabling FLAC does the trick.

@huw I am still confused about how this works. Does it mean when playing music from my local NAS, the WiiM server is listening too and even changes data and send this to the WHA?
I always thought the information on my LAN did not go to the internet.

Your local music stays local to your network.
Server in this case refers to the music server running on your nas, such as mediaserver, minimserver, plex etc., and what info this is passing to your wiim.
