I've noticed that when resuming from pause that there is an immediate glitch in the sound that gives the impression that the volume is louder for a very short time before returning to normal. I don't have any fade in/fade out turned on. In LMS player settings there is a setting for fade in after pause and if I set that for 2 seconds then the sound glitch is even more obvious since the fade in begins after the glitch. Can anyone else confirm this? I have replaygain enabled if it matters. I have never noticed this with any other Squeezelite player.

Hi. I just tried on my Ultra using iPeng as my player for my LMS. Upon releasing pause there is no instant volume change. I too use ReplayGain tags and have my players set to Crossfade 10 secs. All FLAC files @ 44.1khz. Is your LMS doing any type of conversion of sample rate, etc?

No coversion and I have crossfade turned off as well. When you say using iPeng as player do you mean controller? Try going into player settings and set "play or resume fade in to 2 seconds and see if you can hear it then. I don't know if you can change that setting in iPeng you might need to use the LMS web GUI under player audio settings.

Yes. Sorry. IPeng as controller. Settings attached. I do not hear any weird volume change upon play/pause. It appropriately ramps the volume up and is not jolting.
