HDMI ARC audio sync issues – worth waiting for Wiim Amp Ultra?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for having me on the forum!

I recently bought the Wiim Amp and overall I really like it. Great little unit. One of the main reasons I got it was for the HDMI ARC functionality, as I’d love to have my Dali speakers “always on” for TV watching.

However, I’m experiencing some audio sync issues on certain TV apps. For one of the apps, it is live streaming that is the issue, for the other, it is on demand. My TV is a Thomson 50QG7C14.

I recognize that the apps themselves are probably the culprit, not the setup. But, I am now wondering: would returning the Wiim Amp and instead waiting for the Wiim Amp Ultra with HDMI eARC potentially solve these issues?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Mugillo

The ARC input on my WiiM Ultra doesn't work more often than it does. At first, I thought it was a problem with my TV's pass-through, but then I gave up on that and hooked my TV up directly to my preamp's ARC input and it works perfectly every single time, so now I really pin the issue on my Ultra's ARC input. It's a hassle because everything going through my WiiM passes through my miniDSP for DIRAC Live correction before it reaches my preamp, which sounds better than going straight to my preamp, but I cannot do anything about it, other than perhaps consider hooking up an optical cable directly from my TV to the miniDSP.

Hi,
Where did you see that?
As far as I know, the WiiM amp Ultra does not support eARC.

Can you adjust lip-sync on the TV?

Ugh, well I was absolutely certain that I read eARC somewhere, but then no reason to wait for the Ultra.

Unfortunately, can't adjust lip sync on the TV.

Unfortunately, can't adjust lip sync on the TV.

As you say, if the delay only occurs with a certain TV apps, it could be that app.

It might be worth trying a streaming device such as a FireTV stick; FireTV also has a lip-sync feature. (However, it would be difficult to fix only the delay that only occurs with some apps.)

As an aside, I use a WiiM amp pro and a Yamaha AVR to watch TV in two different rooms, both of which occasionally have audio delays. This delay is almost always resolved by playing it back again from the beginning.

I did back on Monday. I can respond back, they had questions about my TV model etc.
