Enjoying JB Radio streaming music in flac format on my Ultra. However, I cannot get the album art or song metadata on the display of the Ultra. I accessed the station using the Open Network Stream option and using the url, https://mediacp.jb-radio.net:8001/flac. The music plays fine, but there is no station logo or album art. When I select JB Radio2 under the vTuner app on the Ultra, the music plays fine and I get the station art, but no album art. Alternatively, when using my phone with the station app I do see album art and song info.
Looking for suggestions. Thanks for your help.
I did file a ticket with Wiim support and received the following response:
This behavior is expected and is not caused by incorrect settings on your WiiM Ultra. It is a limitation of how internet radio metadata and artwork are delivered, and how different access methods expose that data to the player.
1.Why there is no station logo or album art when using Open Network Stream
When you add
via Open Network Stream, the WiiM Ultra treats it as a raw audio stream URL.
Key points:
The stream provides audio only (FLAC)
It typically does not include structured metadata fields for:
Station name
Station logo
Album art URL
Open Network Stream has no external directory or metadata service to “fill in” missing information
As a result:
Audio plays correctly
No station logo
No album art
This is normal behavior for direct stream URLs.
2.Why vTuner shows the station logo, but still no album art
When you select JB Radio2 via vTuner:
vTuner is a radio directory service
It provides:
Station name
Station logo (directory-level metadata)
This metadata is not coming from the stream itself, but from vTuner’s database
However:
vTuner does not support per-track album art
Even if the stream internally changes tracks or has now-playing info, vTuner does not pass album artwork to third-party devices like WiiM
This is station-side metadata design, not a WiiM limitation.
