How to store iPeng (LMS) in presets?

As a newbie, I try to store iPeng (LMS) in my WiiM Ultra presets. I am streaming from my Logitech Media Server (that runs on my Synology NAS), controlled via iPeng App. Everything runs well (via Ethernet and/or Wifi) while Squeezelite is enabled on my WiiM Ultra and NAS is found in my network. Does anybody know if I can store iPeng in a WiiM Ultra preset (similar to Spotify app)? Perhaps, I need to store the LMS server IP address at some place via WiiM Home app? Thanks for help!

What good would that do? iPeng is the app but no particular track/album/playlist.
What would that preset do in your eyes?

So no. As far as I know this is not possible.

Thanks for your reply. I like iPeng a lot, and (in my eyes) it would be great (for simple and userfriendly control and convenience), if pressing a WiiM preset would automatically open the iPeng app for streaming from my NAS (LMS server). Currently, I manually start iPeng, select the WiiM Ultra as my player and also select Ethernet connection on WiiM Ultra as the active Audio input port. It works fine so far.
When I use a preset that has Spotify stored „behind it“, it (to my knowledge) automatically opens Spotify app and establishes a stream to a previously defined song. Same functionality I would like to have with iPeng being the appropriate app.
Would you recommend to alternatively set up a DLNA connection to my NAS then?

What are you trying to do exactly? Do you want a link to iPeng in the WiiM app? If so why bother, just don't open the WiiM app and open iPeng instead. Same as Spotify.

You don't need to select ethernet manually. Just play from iPeng and the input will automatically change to ethernet. You can probably select the WiiM as the default player in iPeng but if you can't then try Material skin instead.

I dare say you could in a very roundabout manner store a Lyrion url for what it is you’re wanting to preset. For example, if you use the Lyrion default interface and then choose, say, a playlist, you may be able to copy the url and paste that into Open Network Stream in the WiiM app and then save it as a preset. _

I understand your intention now.

First off, you don‘t need to select the input on the WiiM at all. All you need to do is activate auto-sensing for that input in the WHA.

Further, you cannot open iPeng from the WiiM. iPeng is just a control point. If at all you would open the connection with LMS on your NAS.
I‘m afraid I don‘t know how this works with Spotify. I’m not using any of those internet portals.
DLNA will most probably not help you here, however it works (could work).

I don’t think using a Spotify preset opens the Spotify app, it just starts a Spotify session between the cloud and your WiiM device.

Sorry, but my NAS does not have the resources needed to run Lyrion locally. I run „the good old Logitech Media Server on my NAS. Thank you anyway!

Lyrion is LMS.
Or are you on some ancient version of LMS?
No matter, the procedure would be the same.

Thank you! It works, WiiM Ultra switches automatically to Ethernet input when iPeng starts to play a song. I did not find autosensing on Ethernet input on WHA, but it „autosenses“ when iPeng starts playing a song, I just need to start playing a song in iPeng. BTW: Entering the IP address of my LMS in the browse section of WHA does not work here. I think Squeezelite is not prepared for that?

Yes, correct, ancient DSM and ancient LMS, newer DSM (7 up) no longer support original Logitech Media Server add-on packets. (Never touch a working machine 🤭)

Haha, quite right.
My QNAP also doesn‘t support a direct installation of Lyrion. But it is capable of setting up and running docker containers. Don‘t ask me what exactly this is, I only have a VERY rough idea of what this does.
Anyway, there is a docker version of Lyrion and it works very well. The installation is also well explained on the Lyrion website.
So just in case your current NAS gives up the ghost, not all is lost🤣.

You are correct, WiiM preset does not open the Spotify app. It always starts the same session that was active at the time the preset was created. Thank you!

That‘s exactly the point, no ressources for running docker… I hope my NAS will last for some more years, the fan gets noisy 🙏🏻

I can honestly recommend QNAP. I always only use the most basic 1-bay model. They are fanless and absolutely sufficient if not great for audio and general stuff. It cost me below EUR 200 (+ the SSD).

I don’t know your use case(s). So such a simple device (1-bay) may not suit your needs. But if you‘re not running a business or have some other special requirements like high number terra byte storage, the simple version is first choice. Backups are done on external drives anyway.

You could always run Lyrion on a Raspberry Pi and just use the NAS for storage but no need to if you are happy with the old LMS.

I don‘t want to experiment. I am not an IT guy.
FYI: It took me so many, many hours over the years to digitize (FLAC for home HiFi, mp3 for mobile devices) my 700 CD‘s and some of my 600 Vinyls and tag them correctly, including artwork. All approx. 15’000 songs stored on two identical NAS, harddrives configured as RAID for higer security. I am happy about seeing people maintaining Lyrion..🫶, and I am even more happy about WiiM management and engineers who are implementing Squeezelite👍

You know what? Every time I install lyrion I can never remember how to start a dynamic playlist on my wiim using a url preset from "Open Network Stream"

Code:
http://192.168.1.100:9000/jsonrpc.js{"id":1,"result":{},"params":["bb:bb:9t:80:5a:3e",["dynamicplaylist","playlist","play","dplccustom_jazzy"]],"method":"slim.request"}

Change the actual ip of the server
mac address of the player (found in player settings in lyrion)
the name of the dynamic playlist created with the dynamic playlist creator plugin. Spaces and special characters removed.

If this helps no-one else, at least, I might be able to find it.
