How to use volume control

Newby to Wiim here...

I have a Wiim Amp and a Wiim pro. The Wiim Amp powers a pair of Dali bookshelf speakers and REL subwoofer. The Wiim Pro feeds into my Emotiva integrated amp which also powers a different pair of Dali speakers in my office.

I have the Wiim app installed on both my iPhone and my iMac computer and both hold my playlists. My issue is that while I can control the volume from the app, the resulting volume is dependent on the underlying volume setting on my phone (i.e. ringer volume). What I’d like, is to have essentially a line level signal into both the Amp and Pro, whereby I can then adjust volume via the app only, and not have to consider what the volume setting is on my phone or computer.

I hope I’m explaining things correctly and you understand what I’m trying to accomplish. BTW, the volume on the integrated amp being fed by the Pro is set a slightly less than max, so the Pro is essentially acting as a preamp, but there is still the issue of dealing with two volume controls (the phone and the app).

I’d appreciate any help/suggestions/clarifications you may have…

Greetings:
I'm coming from the Sonos ecosystem which I finally gave up on after their update debacle. Several years ago, I ripped all my CDs into my iMac using the AAC encoder. Since then, I have subscribed to iTunes Match (not sure what for), but I believe the music still resides on both my iMac and my iPhone. I would like to have all those playlists on an external SSD which I do have, but haven't formatted it yet and am not sure how to go about it...20 years ago when I was into hifi, I never worried about all this...just load a CD or mount some vinyl, and everything was handled by my preamp. So consider me extremely tech challenged when it comes to streaming etc.

Hi PJO,

Welcome to the forum!

Could you clarify which music source you're using? Are you streaming audio to your WiiM via Bluetooth or AirPlay? It seems that the volume of your WiiM device may be affected by your mobile phone.

Alternatively, you can use the PC app to control the volume of your WiiM devices without the interference from your phone: https://www.wiimhome.com/app.

A screen shot from my phone. I'm sure this is all the result of operator error...After I had ripped all my music to my iMac, I synced most of the playlists/albums to my iPhone, so when using the Wiim App on my iPhone, I believe it's using the sync'd files. Now when I'm using the app on my iMac, the only thing that plays are the "radio" stations (i.e. Pandora). When trying to listen to an albym/playlist, the now playing screen shows it playing, but no signal to either the Pro or Amp. As I said, I probably have something set incorrectly on the phone/iMac.

Thank you again for helping diagnose my issue...

That phone-like icon in the top middle of your screenshot means that you are playing files local to your iphone, implying that you chose 'My Music' in the wiim app's Browse screen.
Having never used airplay and also having bluetooth almost always disabled I don't know how to advise you to switch from what I assume is airplay to simply streaming the 'raw' file to the wiim for it to process.
Hopefully someone else will jump in again.

Hi Her,

We will use the iMac to reproduce your issue. Meanwhile, please help us investigate your issue by sending feedback through the WiiM Home app on iMac: go to the More tab and tap Feedback. Our engineers will look into it promptly once received.
