We're excited to announce that we're testing a new feature: AI Answers in search results.

When you search for something on the site, our AI will now attempt to provide an answer by pulling from our knowledge base and existing forum threads. The goal here is to help you find information faster, especially for common questions that have been answered many times before.

A few important things to know:

This is a work in progress.
The AI won't always be 100% accurate, and you may occasionally see responses that aren't quite right or need refinement. We're actively testing and improving the system, so expect frequent changes and updates.

This doesn't replace our community. You all are the heart of this forum, and that's not changing. AI Answers is meant to complement your expertise, not replace it. Think of it as handling the repetitive stuff (like "How do I connect to Spotify?" or "What's the difference between the Pro and Pro Plus?") so you can focus your time and knowledge on the more interesting, nuanced, or novel questions that come up.

We need your feedback. If you see an AI answer that's wrong, unhelpful, or could be better, please reply to this thread or shoot us a message. We're also looking into adding a direct feedback mechanism so you can flag AI responses right from the search results, but for now, any feedback you share will be incredibly helpful.

We're hoping this will reduce the fatigue from answering the same questions over and over, while still preserving what makes this community great: real people helping real people with real expertise.

Let us know what you think as you encounter it in your searches!

Cool idea. I’d like to suggest making this thread a sticky that’s easy to find, at least in the Feedback & Suggestions section, maybe even at the top of every section for now.

Is this via the general site Search on the top right or the Search in the WiiM Support section?

I remember the Terminator film, mankind allowed AI to control the weapons systems and AI then decided that the best way to ensure it's own survival was to use the weapons against the humans. Was it just a film or maybe a pointer to what will happen if we allow AI to become autonomous?
I prefer to keep the human touch on the forum, guess I am a bit of a luddite.

I must say that I'm not keen on anything involving AI, as it is usually guaranteed to be largely inaccurate, or simply just wrong.
Must admit I’m with you on that. I’ve literally just come off an AI query about my old district where (as usual) I had to challenge its first response and only after that did it admit my recollection was correct.

@RyanWithWiiM I’ve already had to refute a WiiM related answer on Reddit in the past day or so where this was said:

“Regarding multiroom between the amp and the Echos, the wiim chatbot says:
When you put the WiiM Mini in an Alexa multi-room music (MRM) group with Echo devices and your amplifier, the WiiM Mini delivers high-fidelity, bit-perfect audio output up to192 kHz/24-bit to your amplifier, ensuring excellent sound quality.
However, Alexa multi-room groups support only network audio input and cannot transmit audio from other inputs (such as Line In, Optical In, HDMI ARC, or Bluetooth) to devices in the group over Wi-Fi. This means that while the WiiM Mini outputs high-quality audio to your amplifier, the Echo devices in the group receive standard network audio streams, which may not be of the same high-resolution quality as the WiiM Mini's output.”

Most definitely not - all devices in an Alexa MRM group receive the same stream and resolution, and Alexa MRM groups (and echo devices) in my experience top out at 24/48 at best. Plus isn’t that why we have an Amazon music hd/uhd switch in the Mini settings, as it can’t support that resolution in MRM groups?

I hope we don’t have to end up refuting AI search results in the forum and the Facebook group even more than we already do….

Edit: just tried “Mini Alexa multi room music group 24/192” in a search and it repeats that incorrect response. Happy for WiiM to correct me if I’m wrong ;)

To follow on, I think the biggest issue with AI searches is that they often miss context, particularly time related stuff. Even though I would expect the scope of WiiM’s chatbot to largely be the forum and support pages, I hope it realises that some early responses are no longer valid given recent updates.

Spend some time on social media and YouTube then you slowly realise that a stupidity virus is infecting humankind 😁😋😛. Autonomous AI could actually be blessing...

Yeah, whatever happened to the three laws of robotics? ;)

The forum search bar, but it largely uses the same AI model that we've been training on only our content. We'll be doing a lot of fine tuning as we go, so please pardon the dust.

I'm also cautious of AI being inaccurate but seeming reliable. We're going to be doing some work as well to clean up old content and keep training it to get better and better.

Could a disagree/dispute button be placed on the AI search result?

I’d hazard you may need to amend the “We’re unable to answer this question at the moment. Please submit your query through Feedback, and our team will assist you as soon as possible” AI response otherwise you’re going to get a lot of feedback even when the results below that do actually answer the search question. Maybe revise it to something like “Please check the results below. If they don’t help with your query, please ask in the forum or submit your query thru feedback”. As it stands, the original response would seem to discourage the use of the forum and potentially overload your support team.
