Loss of speaker output

Hi all,

I'm having an issue with Wiim amp audio out and ask if anyone else has experienced it.

My set up is very straightforward;

Passive speakers attached to the hard wire connections on the Wiim. No sub.

Connected via ethernet to listen to Spotify and internet services.

The only other input is optical from TV.

No HDMI, no line in and no Bluetooth in or out.

The problem is that I can be happily listening on ethernet and when I switch to optical, the speakers are switched off. Doesn't happen always which would probably help diagnose but does very often. The only way to get the speakers back on is to reboot.

Support are constantly associating with a Bluetooth issue as I cycle through the inputs using the remote from ethernet to optical but in my view, if one has chosen Audio Out to be speakers, no matter what the input is, they should not be affected. Do you agree?

Anyone else experienced this please?

All app and firmware up to date.

Thanks.

Do you have any issues if you use the app to directly change input rather than via the remote?

Burnside - thank you for the quick response and apologies for my useless reply.

I've just been listening to Classic FM via Ethernet and then switched in the app to optical directly.

The speakers go off. I know there is signal in because I can put the TV volume up and I have the miniature equalizer graph on the devices page.

When I switch back to ethernet the sound comes back on.

Can you replicate?

Thanks.

I don’t have a similar setup, but do you have auto sensing turned on for the optical input? That won’t kick in until 10-15 seconds iirc after the previous Ethernet stream has stopped, but I would expect manually selecting optical to override that.

Maybe try stopping the Ethernet stream first, wait 15 secs or so then see if the tv audio starts? Do you have another optical cable you can try?

Do you have something else on the optical input to try with?

Also note that the animated eq graph is triggered by a few seconds sound and will then continue for many minutes after the signal is stopped. Maybe you have a bad optical connection?

Thanks both.

I've disconnected the existing optical cable from the TV to the amp.

I've installed another optical cable from my Xbox to the amp and it worked when I went straight to optical in.

However, when I chose my Classic FM preset it switched to ethernet as it should and speakers stayed on. Then using the app to select optical the sound went off.

I had to reboot to get it back.

A bit frustrating.
