Hi other Multi Unit WiiM Users.

I have 8 Units, all WiiM Ultras and really enjoy having perfectly synced music playing throughout our home.

HOWEVER updates are a pain in the ..... 6 minutes per unit, 48 minutes total per update. And sometimes updates fail, making it even more frustrating.

I have been begging WiiM from day one to simply download the update to my music share and then ask what I like to update all eight units at one time!!

It seems like they just ignore the people who purchased many of their units, I guess we are somehow perceived as "unusual" or not just as high volume as the one or two unit purchase customer.

I beg all of you who have more than two units to push WiiM to improve their update process so that we can enjoy the benefits of the updates without this pain and suffering of doing eight units manually.

Not only would this make our experience better it would also take all of the download pressure off of their servers by simply bringing the data for the update directly to the music share.

If anyone has opinions or ideas about how to make this easier please post, but if you also are struggling and frustrated please send messages to WiiM support directly so they can see how many of us both the unit users are struggling with their design.

As always the product has become an excellent source of Music in our home and they do so much well this is just one of those straw that breaks the camel's back frustrations that would be amazing if it would go away.

I look forward to all of your feedback.
Jeff

PS: Left Sonos for WiiM and still very glad I did.

I have 7 WiiMs so I understand your frustration. In my case they are all different models so there is a time lag between updates, but if they are all the same model it will be more frustrating.

One problem is that we can't control the WiiM app during the update. (I believe @Burnside mentioned this.) Just correct this would be a huge improvement in UX.

But in reality, the current updates are automatic. We can temporarily reject updates, but after a period of time they are auto updated.
(Not all units need to be updated manually. )

Therefore, it might be better to just provide an option to auto update at any time of the day (e.g. Midnight) without a small window of update notification.

Try using ethernet-cable. From my understanding the download-part are the one that takes most of the time in a update. Cable ensures the that the download itself goes as quick as possible 👍🏻

At first it say 6 min but in reality it’s just a min at the most. The number you see is misleading. I have it connected on ethernet. Many people just settled on internet provided router which in my opinion lack in power and speed as the number of devices being added to the network.

I don’t mind how long it takes as most of time I’m not home. I just like looking at this tread to see whats new. When I do get home, I fired up my 5 songs playing repeatedly till I fall asleep.
