Hi All,

Had my Wiim Pro Plus for a good few months now and wanted to utilise its capabilities a bit more than just the amazon alexa and spotify connect haha.

I currently have plex linked up via DLNA on a raspberry pi for alot of HQ FLAC files but the UI in the wiim home app isnt the best for soring through all the folders to get to the albums.

Im hoping to transfer everything to a Win10 pro machine being used as a server, any recommendations for good DLNA service utilising this machine?
Tried the built in windows one but none of my music was showing up.

Any suggestions welcome (preferably free :) )

Solution
could I get LMS on windows?
just that I'm hoping to de-commission the pi for this stuff cause I prefer being able to RDP into the win machine.
Easier to work on with the GUI since the current pi is headless
Yes. LMS runs on Windows - that's what I use with Anydesk remote access. RDP also works for me with win10 but not win11. I use series 8 LMS not 9.

good to know,
thanks for the information.
what would be the major difference between Lyrion 8 & 9
just so I can decide what would be better to install

Have you tried the Plex open beta (WHA > Browse > Plex)? It's a much richer browsing experience than the DLNA interface.

Alternatively, if you're on Android Symfonium is a great controller for many servers and has offline and Android Auto integration too.

I think there are some issues with ver. 9 on Windows - you lose the win control panel (I think). Ver. 8 is pretty solid - had no issues (except it arbitrarily changed the port from 9000 to 9001 after a Windows update - no idea why!). It's been pretty much install & forget in my experience (& less temptation to fiddle with settings as with picoreplayer!). YMMV of course.

I had pi but it wouldn't work with a usb dvd drive, so that's when I switched to a mini Pc & win10.. Drive worked first time.

yeah I couldn't get it to work either. More of a gimmick to have CDP connected to a server really, although 100 CD jukebox working with pi would have it's uses.

Thanks Everyone for the great insights.
As I use windows for most machines around my house, Im going to install LMS on the windows server.
this is mainly because recently Ive been having issues with Linux's NTFS reading and if something was to go wrong with the machine It will be easier to transfer files and SSDs around all using the same partition types. Especially with my plans for building up with RAID later down the line.

What is really good with the cd-player plugin is the how cd tracks can be added, reordered as a playlist. Also, the cd can be played to any LMS endpoint - CD in the kitchen, bathroom - any squeezebox player. 😁

Thank you for bringing Symfonium to my attention. It looks like a promising player for my local music files. However, I don't see any way to specify LMS as a source for non-local files.

I discovered that I should enter it as a Subsonic provider. However, I'm getting an error that it is "Unable to get media provider version." I'm guessing that's because I'm running LMS v7.9.3. I've heard that some people are having issues with 9.0 on Windows. I'm tempted to upgrade to 8.0. I'm worried that upgrading from a Logitech release to a non-Logitech release could be less than trivial. I've read that at least one person had to uninstall 7.9.3 before installing 8 and it was a complete reset for them.

You can uninstall LMS without removing settings etc. You will be presented with an option on screen.
