Hello Folks, my attic den music gear is quite old, but still does the job.
I rediscovered the Ikea butchers block hack recently and gave it a go. It's basically 2 Aptitlig blocks with 3 ball bearings in between - in the grooves, and 3 sorbothane feet under it all.
It doesn't and won't stop thunder feet on the wobbly floorboards, but I tell you, it does give a focus and width that wasn't there before. The Thorens has an AT440 MLb cart, which can be a bit too forward, and i'm still finding that, and the bass is just jaw dropping. Maybe too much?
I have an old Ortofon cart that could do with a new stylus, but it's almost impossible to find a replacement....
