I could find anything on the forum about Northern Soul so I wondered if anyone was into it?
I've been a lifelong listener since the 1970's, used to dance then at Wigan, and numerous other all nighters and all dayers. Never lost the love for the music. Didn't need all the hi fi stuff back then, I had a little old Amstrad amp, a couple of shitty speakers and an ancient garrard turntable. Good enough for me back then, I spent all my money on the music which was fairly lo - fi being produced mostly by smallish labels in the US.
Great music..

I love "There's a Ghost in my House" and "The Snake" but I didn't even know they were Northern Soul until fairly recently 🤣

Yep they would play those 2 all the time, Northern Soul wasn't just the music it was almost a way of life to working class kids like me, work hard all week and spend all your money dancing at all nighters. Bit like the rave scene really I guess. The drugs caused problems and the police were always stopping you but the music survived. Northern Soul is still going as a scene, those of us pensioners blessed with good health and decent legs still dance along with the new generation of followers of the music.
