Hi all. First post here.
Wiim amp user. I tried to compare my CD player audio connected via Optical to airplay signal from Mac mini running iTunes.
When I select Optical in I hear the CD player playing. When I switch to WiFi I hear playback from iTunes on the mini.
Then when I switch back to Optical I hear nothing. The sound is still coming from WiFi even though Optical is selected.
The CD player is still playing but there’s no sound when I select Optical.
It is like the WiFi is hogging the inputs.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Hi

If you pause the music on Airplay and then switch to optical input, will you get sound?

I've never used Airplay before, so hopefully another member can help me figure this out.

When I pause AirPlay and then select Optical there’s still no sound from the cd player.
With optical selected I unpause AirPlay and hear playback from the mini.
Very strange.
In order to hear my cd player I have to unplug the WiiM amp from the mains then reconnect.

When you switch from Wi-Fi to optical, how does the WiiM app show the playing screen? (Can you post a screenshot?)

Also, could you try a Wi-Fi source other than AirPlay?

I see you have continued the discussion in another thread !

That is normal. When playback resumes, it automatically switches to Wi-Fi.

Perhaps you need to pause (or turn off) the CD player. Also try turning off the optical auto-sensing.

Mac Mini running iTunes transmitting via Airplay to amp.
Not sure what you mean by

Are you sure you are selected the optical input on the WiiM Amp and not on the Mini?

Thanks for responding though.

Sorry my misunderstanding. I thought it was a WiiM Mini.

When Wi-Fi streaming is started on the WiiM, the WiiM input will automatically switch to Wi-Fi.

Ok. To address the problem I’ve shut down the cd player and then restarted.
Optical in selected in Wiim app.
Press play and still nada. Wifi still dominates.
The only way I can hear cd playback is to disconnect Wiim amp from the mains then reconnect.
Then it works. However if I then select Wifi i can not hear anything when switching back to Optical.
The Wifi input is playing with Optical connected.
Perhaps someone can replicate this issue with their setup.
Thanks

What if you stop the iTunes and disconnect the Mini?

On WiiM the WiFi streaming has priority (for some reason).

If the input selector remains on "optical" (and doesn't revert to Wi-Fi/Ethernet after a couple of seconds) I'd still call that a bug.

In this case it might be best to send feedback to WiiM through the WiiM Home app on your phone (tab "More" > "Send us feedback").

I do stop iTunes and shut off airplay but still no cd playback when Optical is selected.
It’s curious to me and I wonder if other Wiim users are having the same problem

I contacted WiiM about this issue.
Is there no one here that uses WiFi and has optical connected?
I do. But don't use airplay on the Pro Plus.
I have no issues switching between the different inputs.

Ethernet/WiFi is streaming Tidal.
Optical input is a Minidisk.

I don't have a CD player, so I tested it by connecting a WiiM mini to the WiiM Amp's optical input. No problems occurred with input switching.

When I start streaming on the Amp with music playing on the Mini, it automatically switches to the Wi-Fi input and the Amp plays the music. At this time, the Mini continues to play. Then, when I switch to the optical input with the WiiM app, the music playing on the Mini is heard again from the Amp.
