Optical in cuts out when airplay chosen.

Could it be a specific airplay issue?
I really don't know anything about how airplay works.
The OP says this, so perhaps not.

"I do stop iTunes and shut off airplay but still no cd playback when Optical is selected."

@Padspawsclaws,
However,
If your CD player has a line out, you may want to test it. You can't solve the Optical issue, but if the line-in switching works, at least you know that AirPlay is not the cause.

I was just wondering if the initial use of airplay was the cause.

I have tried everything on my Pro Plus to reproduce the issue. I cannot.

I have no idea, I have never used AirPlay either 😅. I couldn't reproduce it with my Amp as you did as well.

@Padspawsclaws,
Also try rebooting Amp if you haven't already.

Alright. When I play Qobuz over wifi and my cd via optical in I can now (seemingly) switch between the two.
The annoying part is that when I go from Qobuz wifi to optical then back to Qobuz the song is no longer there.
Nothing is playing. I have to search for that song again.
Next hurdle will be airplay to optical and back. Fingers crossed.

I contacted WiiM about this issue.
Is there no one here that uses WiFi and has optical connected?
I use WiFi for WiiM internet streaming and use Optical In for digital media input. My optical input is from an Apple Airplay Express. The AirPlay Express supports lossless Apple Music streaming via AirPlay 1 from my Mac mini M2 Pro over Ethernet.

I have not experienced your issue. I'm using a WiiM amp.

I use WiFi to stream WiiM amp internet FM stations or Apple Music digital output from an iPad and, or iPhone using Airplay 2. In both cases I always manually stop WiFi input before changing to Optical In.

I have had problems with getting Optical Input to work in the past from time to time . I stopped using the WiiM amp auto-switching option just to eliminate another potential problem source. I think my Optical Input instability involved MacOS/AppleMusic Airplay glitches or transient Airplay Express problems.

Unfortunately that is now normal behavior; when you resume streaming in Qobuz it should automatically switch to Wi-Fi input.
